With his team up 95-67 over the Chicago Bulls Monday night in the closing minutes of the game, Sacramento Kings forward Derrick Williams saw an opportunity to do something spectacular. The noted dunk artist made a slick steal, broke away by himself and set up for a monster throwdown. There was just one problem: he forgot to finish the job.
As Williams streaked down the court all alone, he tossed the ball off the backboard and tried to grab it with his right hand to throw it down with authority. But the toss off the backboard wasn’t a good one, and he couldn’t handle it. He lost the dunk, and the ball, as Bulls forward Erik Murphy collected the rebound.
It was truly the definition of an epic fail by Williams.

The moral of the story is this: if you’re going to attempt something big, like an off-the-backboard alley-oop to yourself, make damn sure you can finish it.
The Kings wound up winning 99-70, and Williams finished with five points, nine rebounds and one incredibly embarrassing highlight.
