Fellow MSF writer Kurt Allen compiled a list of baseball managers on the hot seat earlier this summer. Let’s take another look here in October, as we roll through an epic postseason and toward the League Championship Series.
Even with Mike Scioscia seemingly safe, there are still a lot of skippers in varying degrees of danger as baseball fast approaches its stretch run. Here is my ranking of 12 managers who may feel the seat starting to get warm, and one who may be the first casualty of 2014 as soon as this week.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have a $217 million payroll and currently sit at 17-25 and occupy last place in the National League West. They are seven games behind the first-place Arizona Diamondbacks and according to several reports, it will be a miracle if manager Don Mattingly lasts the week.
