Gone are the days where Chicago Blackhawks fans can easily buy tickets to home games. After making the playoffs five out of the past six years and winning the Stanley Cup twice in four years, being shut out of tickets is to be expected for the normal buyer.
This past offseason was an eventful one for the Bears. There is a new head coach and other major personal changes that will have the Bears looking like a new team. The main objective – winning – remains the same, though, and the Bears must do exactly that this season or I’m going to be a very angry fan.
I usually avoid sports talk radio since it’s often banal and society has more important issues, but while doing business Tuesday in Chicago I caught myself listening to the trivialities of wannabe athletes and ex-athletes on three different channels throughout the morning. Windy City Talk radio is as “passionate” as anywhere outside of New York, which also means it’s wholly ignorant of what goes on outside their immediate area.
Straight off of a Stanley Cup victory, it was easy to realize who the Chicago Blackhawks should re-sign and who they should let go, and a few weeks into the offseason and five key re-signings, two trades, and two major releases later, the team’s management has perfectly executed what needed to be done.
