In a season without a consensus, season-long No. 1 team, it should probably come as no surprise that some unprecedented things happened in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. An 11-seed in the Elite Eight, a No. 8 seed in the title game and a No. 7 seed winning it all?
Say what you will about the selection committee’s seeding process, but the seven vs. eight match-up in the title game was unprecedented. It was, of course, the final game of the tourney, and the previous 66 games helped to create this list of the top 10 performers from this season’s NCAA tournament.
