Best attempt to one-up David Tyree’s Super Bowl XLII helmet catch: Odell Beckham Jr.’s otherworldly, one-handed touchdown catch against the Cowboys
Rookie wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was a major bright spot in an otherwise forgettable season for the New York Giants, and his miraculous one-handed touchdown catch against the Dallas Cowboys on November 23 was one of the highlights of the entire 2014 season.
On the play, Beckham overcame being fouled by Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr to make a leaping grab of Eli Manning’s pass, physics be damned. Even Al Michaels, who has pretty much seen it all during the course of his storied career, seemed at a loss for words following Beckham’s leaping grab. While David Tyree’s helmet catch in Super Bowl XLII was obviously astronomically more significant, NBC color analyst Cris Collinsworth wasn’t exaggerating when he said that it “may be the greatest catch I’ve ever seen.”
