Best affirmation of previously held stereotypes of Alabama fans: Phyllis from Mulga’s rant on The Paul Finebaum Show
Alabama fans (and SEC fans in general) tend be thought of as a bit over the top by supporters of other teams across the country when it comes to football. Fans like Phyllis Chapple-Perkins, better known as Phyllis from Mulga, don’t really help dispel that stereotype.
After Ole Miss upset the Crimson Tide in early October, ESPN radio host Colin Cowherd restated his belief that Alabama’s days as a college football dynasty were numbered. That did not sit well with Phyllis, who called into The Paul Finebaum Show (she’s a frequent caller to the show) to voice her displeasure. The rant started with her disparaging Cowherd, who she refers to as “Cowturd”, for having the audacity to doubt the power of Our Lord and Savior, Nick Saban. Her voice only continued to rise, building to a glorious crescendo as her rage only intensified, before ending her call with the inevitable “ROLL TIDE”. The whole thing really is 100 seconds of pure gold.
