Temple at Penn State
Holding grudges is a bad thing in general, but it’s worst in college football. Penn State refused to maintain its rivalry with Pitt, for instance, and that leads to the Nits having to play Temple in a year when Pitt would have been an easier out for them.
Look, James Franklin can talk up the attractiveness of the Indiana win all he wants to. It’s his prerogative; he earned it. Penn State has absolutely no offense. You know it, I know it, James Franklin knows it, and there are houseplants in Kyrgyzstan that know it. There’s nothing anybody can do about it. If you can get to 20 points, you can probably beat the Nits.
Getting there is a big problem, though. Penn State has one of the best college defenses I’ve ever seen. Temple hasn’t exactly been burning up the drive charts either. The last time the Owls scored more than 20 points was a month ago, against Tulsa. What are the odds they can score more than twice against Penn State?
I don’t believe those odds are too good.
The pick: Penn State 16, Temple 10
