One of the great things about adding new teams to the conference is gaining a new collection of cornball non-conference opponents. Now, in addition to wondering why Iowa has scheduled so many games with Tulsa over the years or how Minnesota and San Jose State became September buddies, we get to ponder the connection between Rutgers and Tulane, two historic programs who didn’t start playing each other until the mid-1970s. The Scarlet Knights are 4-2 all-time against the … [frantic internet search] … Green Wave but have lost two of the last three meetings. Of course, one of those was in 2010 and the other was in 1998.

It is of no concern. Tulane is not that great at football.
