Pickin’ On the Big Ten, Week 5: Ice-Cold Hoke Zero

Illinois at Nebraska

Ameer Abdullah

The Illini are a better team now than they were a year ago, and you are free to believe that’s more Wes Lunt’s doing than it is Tim Beckman’s. Problem is, Nebraska’s also a better team than it was a year ago. This game will be worth watching just to see what Ameer Abdullah does against an Illini defense that most certainly can be run against. There’s a danger of catching the Huskers looking ahead to Sparty next week. Nebraska is very good but isn’t good enough to dismiss anybody. Will the lesson of McNeese State still be on Nebraska’s mind? Bet on it.

Pick: Nebraska 37, Illinois 20
