A dozen managers on MLB’s 2014 hot seat

5. Kirk Gibson, Arizona Diamondbacks

Kirk Gibson

The Diamondbacks opened the 2014 regular season literally down under, and figuratively haven’t reached the equator since.

The controversial Gibson is on everyone’s hot seat list, but I’m not sure he’s going to go. Tony LaRussa is now in Arizona’s front office, and Gibson seems to be Tony’s type of manager.

If nothing else, Gibson doesn’t take things half-assed and his team goes down fighting, but wins and losses are the bottom line and with a team record $110 million payroll expectations were high in the desert before the season.
