6. Ron Washington, Texas Rangers
Washington was on thin ice during Spring Training back in 2010 after revelations of past drug use became public. It was thought he would be out after his team’s first bad streak. But the Rangers made franchise history by winning American League pennants in both 2010 and 2011 and remaining in contention since.
Things have gone south this season from Day One, with numerous injuries starting back in January when starting pitcher Derek Holland was hurt in a freak accident at home. Regardless, Texas entered Wednesday tied for the worst record in baseball at 40-60. The front office might decide it’s time for a change come season’s end.
