A dozen managers on MLB’s 2014 hot seat

10. Joe Girardi, New York Yankees

What would George Steinbrenner do?

Well the boss died a few years back, but the Yankees managerial post remains the most demanding in baseball. The team is beyond aging, but 2009 will seem especially long ago if the Yankees miss the playoffs for a second consecutive year.

Worst case scenario for Girardi: he gets fired, chills out on a television set for a year, and then resurfaces as manager of the Chicago Cubs. He would resurface one way or another, he’s too good a man.
