12. Ron Roenicke, Milwaukee Brewers
His team’s free-fall during the first two weeks of July got Roenicke on this list. The Brewers have gone from the National League’s best team to just one of six squads jockeying for position. On paper, the Brewers should remain in the mix, the team is relatively healthy, and should get rotation help from Jimmy Nelson, who tore up Triple-A.
But if the Crew falls behind in the NL Central race, Roenicke could be in trouble. Owner Mark Attanasio pulled the plug on Ned Yost with just two weeks left in the 2008 season, so there is a history of quick hooks on his resume.
