Will Liverpool finish alone on top?

[tps_header]History and Tragedy[/tps_header]

Despite a 24-year drought, Liverpool has 18 regular season titles at the top level to their name. By comparison Manchester United has 20 domestic titles. Should LFC win the title, owner John Henry and Fenway Sports Group would hold both the Premier League and World Series titles.

Thanks to Liverpool’s on-field success, momentum has been gained in stadium expansion talks which would see Anfield modernized and its capacity increased from the current 45,000 to nearly 60,000.

The darkest moment in Liverpool history came on April 15, 1989 when the Hillsborough Disaster occurred during an FA Cup semifinal match. A failure of crowd control resulted in hundreds of fans being stuck in a crash of humanity. The final toll was 96 fatalities and 766 injuries. The investigation to the mass tragedy remains ongoing to this day.

Many wounds will last forever, but Liverpool’s fanbase ultimately bonded more than ever, ensuring the Hillsborough 96 are never forgotten.
