A.J. Hammons, center
2013-14 stat line: 10.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 3.1 bpg
2014-15 outlook: Hammons has greatly improved his game in his first two seasons in West Lafayette. Unfortunately for Matt Painter, the strides of improvement made by his seven-foot big man haven’t translated to wins. As a sophomore, Hammons was the leading shot blocker in the Big Ten by a block per game, but it still wasn’t enough to get the Boilermakers over the hump.
One of the biggest knocks against Hammons is his effort. If things aren’t working offensively for the center, he often becomes disengaged on the defensive end as well. As a top-tier shot-blocker, If Hammons can continually play aggressive and stay out of foul trouble, he could be one of the most dominant big men in college basketball next season.
