Fantasy Football Injury Updates: James Starks, Fred Jackson, Michael Vick, and More

Week 12 is filled with turkey, pumpkin pie, and football. With three excellent games to kick of the week on Thursday, there should be plenty of tackling, cheering, and nail biting for all.

Let’s take a look at the injuries.

AFC North

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was limited in practice on Wednesday due a shoulder injury. Though Dalton did not mention the injury in his press conference, he is taking it easy before the game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.

Running back Peyton Hillis for the Cleveland Browns will remain out for week 12 with a hamstring injury. However, it looks like running back Montario Hardesty could be back in the game this Sunday against the Bengals. Hardesty has missed the past three games due to a calf injury.

AFC South

Matt Hasselbeck, Tennessee Titans quarterback, banged up his elbow during Sunday’s game against the Falcons. The injury does not seem to be serious and Hasselbeck expects to start this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Buffalo Bills lose running back Fred Jackson for the season due to a broken leg.

Dan Carpenter, kicker for the Miami Dolphins, did not make the trip to Dallas for the Thanksgiving game. This is the second consecutive game that Carpenter has missed because of a groin injury he suffered in practice last Thursday.

The New York Jets are coping with a few set backs on their offense. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson and wide receiver Jeremy Kerley are both trying to recover from knee injuries and their status is uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills.

AFC West

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel was put on injured reserved due to a hand injury. The team claimed Kyle Orton on waivers.

NFC North

If you haven’t heard by now, quarterback for the Chicago Bears, Jay Cutler,  broke his thumb during Sunday’s game. Cutler played with the broken thumb to finish up the Bears’ win, but underwent surgery today to fix the minor injury. He is expected to return within 6-8 weeks. Caleb Hanie will start in his place.

Green Bay Packers running back James Starks suffered a knee sprain in Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Starks has been listed as questionable for Thursday’s game against the Detroit Lions, after being limited at practice on Wednesday. It will be a game time decision.

Star running back Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings, suffered a high ankle sprain on Sunday. Peterson is still in a walking boot, and Coach Leslie Frazier already stated he would not play against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday if he couldn’t take a hit in practice.

Running back for the Detroit Lions, Jahvid Best, was ruled out of Thursday game against the Green Bay Packers after suffering from another concussion.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin will miss his fifth game of the season on Thursday, as the Cowboys host the Dolphins at home. Austin is dealing with a hamstring injury.

Wide receiver for the Washington Redskins, Santana Moss, has suffered from a broken hand the past four weeks. However, it looks like he could return this Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Philadelphia Eagles continue to struggle with injuries. Both quarterback Michael Vick and wide receiver DeSean Jackson did not practice on Wednesday and the Eagles are slowly trying to work them back into the mix.

That’s it for injury updates. Enjoy the games tomorrow. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
