The biggest game of the Tom Crean Era takes place tonight in Bloomington. Butler (3-2), the two-time national runners-up, heads south to play Indiana (5-0) in a game that Crean desperately needs to win against the coach that some in the Hoosier fan base think should have his job.
There are few days on the sports calendar I look forward to more than the first IU basketball game. And there are few first IU basketball games I have ever looked forward to more than tonight’s home tilt against Stony Brook. The reason is easy: the Season of Expectations is finally here for the Hoosiers.
Of any sports team Jerod follows, IU basketball is the one he truly lives and dies with. So reports like the one that broke tonight regarding secondary violations always cause him to stop, think, and react.
Why is Jerod’s favorite number 40? Simple: because his favorite athlete of all time is Calbert Cheaney, still the Big Ten’s all-time scoring leader with 2,613 points, and he wore #40 during his four incredible years and Bloomington. And now it looks like he may be coming back!

Indiana’s loss to Northwestern has been difficult for Jerod to deal with, but it has nothing to do with how the team. Rather, it has to do with Derek Elston’s blatant, classless trip of Alex Marcotullio – and how Tom Crean has chosen to handle it.
After a 69-60 home loss to Penn State, the honeymoon is officially over for Tom Crean at Indiana. Despite the setback, however, Crean has still done enough to warrant patience and support from Indiana fans.

Hoosier fans, place aside for a moment any ill feelings you may have about Dwyane Wade spurning the Bulls and forming a superteam in Miami. Just enjoy the picture, a wonderful momentary antidote for the awful memories of the last three years.
The Big 10 and Pac 10 both added new teams today. In the process, each conference also added a colorful (read: crazy) new coach that should entertain fans and bloggers alike for many Falls to come.
