Altogether now, let’s point and laugh at Mark Sanchez

mark-sanchez-flinch-video-gif

Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets won a pivotal AFC East battle against upstart Buffalo today. Actually, “won” is too tame of a verb. They vanquished the Bills, reminding Buffalo which team has been to two straight AFC title games and which team hasn’t made the playoffs since…since…well who the hell can remember back that far?

Buffalo dominated 27-11, and the game wasn’t really that close. The Jets ran relatively well, played outstanding defense, and followed Sanchez’s efficient 20-28, 230-yard, 1 TD day to victory.

Despite the W, however, Sanchez is likely to be one of Week 9′s biggest punchlines because of this play that occurred late in the 4th quarter.

Green Bay Packers v San Diego Chargers Preview: Will Chargers waive white towel versus undefeated Packers?

fantasy football week 15 tips philip rivers

The Halloween Nightmare at Arrowhead proved even worse than feared for the San Diego Chargers last Monday night.

As if Marty Schottenheimer showing up in the Kansas City owner’s box – in a Chiefs blazer that Hank Stram would had been proud of – wasn’t enough of a knife twisted in the backside, Philip Rivers’ Joe Pisarcik impersonation at the regulation could end up ultimately spelling doom for San Diego’s season.

Viewer’s Guide: NFL Week 9 TV Schedule and Announcer Assignments

nfl-week-15-tv-schedule-announcers

Week 8 was just weird. St. Louis put a totally unexpected beatdown on New Orleans, Dallas didn’t even compete in their divisional battle against Philadelphia, and after eight weeks of play the San Francisco 49ers have a damn-near-clinching four game lead in the NFC West.

Wha-what?

So what could Week 9 possibly have in store for us?

Bettors Guide: NFL Week 9 Picks, Point Spreads, and Over-Under Odds

Update 11/5: The final spread and pick has been posted.

Update 11/3: Two more spreads have been posted. Picks updated.

I have now officially hit a midseason lull.

You all know that my goal every week is to be above .500. I figure if I can consistently be above .500, and sprinkle in a few really good weeks, it will lead to strong overall record against the spread for the season.

That all went well through the first six weeks of the season as I stormed out to 18 games over .500 with nary a sub-.500 week in sight. But over the last two weeks I’ve gone 6-7 twice, making my overall record 62-46-5.

That’s still pretty good halfway through the season, but that strong start has raised my own expectations. I feel like I’m due for a breakout week in Week 9. Time to make it happen.

Viewers Guide: NFL Week 9 TV Schedule, Announcers, Matchups, and Teams on Bye

Six times are on bye again this week so the schedule is truncated by an additional game like last week’s was. Upon first glance, the Week 9 slate of games is relatively underwhelming, with few pivotal divisional battles to get excited about, but there are some compelling matchups to look forward to.

The Dolphins and Ravens meet in a battle of two AFC teams who will be in the playoff hunt all year. Indy and Philly meet up in an interconference matchup with the contrasting QB styles of Peyton Manning and Michael Vick. The Chiefs and Raiders, as well as the Falcons and Bucs, meet in unlikely battles between top teams in their respective divisions.

Sunday Night Football: Dallas at Philadelphia Preview and Prediction

donovan-mcnabb

Who isn’t excited for the showdown on Sunday night?

The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles are two franchises that despise one another, which always makes for quality television, as well as a good game too. Yet, let’s not forget the last time these two teams met in December of 2008, which was a complete blowout and hardly a game Cowboys fans want to remember.

Losing to their most hated rival 44-6 on the final weekend of the season clearly was not a happy ending or cherry on top of a topsy-turvy 2008 season. For the Cowboys that game has been erased from their minds and currently the squad focused on the 3-game winning streak that has them at the top of the NFC East standings.

Ever since Tony Romo as been at the helm, the Cowboys are 11-1 in November, which includes a win against the Eagles in Philadelphia in 2007. This game means more for to the ‘Boys than the Eagles, especially with all the hype that surrounded this team last season and the scrutiny they continue to receive on a weekly basis.

NFL Week 9 Picks, Spreads, TV Schedule, and Announcer Lineup

Update: The NFL Week 17 TV schedule, point spreads, and picks post is up.

——————–

Mercy has finally come to Browns fans, as the team is on its bye!

Thus, there can be no Sunday massacre to dampen an otherwise pleasant weekend. And here’s the best part: Cleveland doesn’t play until next Monday night, which further prolongs the days between Browns beat-downs.

In between, there are some great games on the NFL Week 9 schedule for Browns fans, as well as Bills, Vikings, Jets, Raiders, and Rams fans, to distract themselves with, most notably the Sunday and Monday night games, both of which should be excellent and match up Dallas-Philadelphia and Denver-Pittsburgh.

We also get key divisional showdowns including Miami-New England, Houston-Indianapolis, and Baltimore-Cincinnati.

It should be another great weekend of NFL football. So, as we get ready for tonight’s Falcons-Saints Monday nighter, let’s take a look forward at the TV schedule, announcer lineups, point spreads and over-unders, and picks for NFL Week 9.
