Caleb Hanie’s Turnovers Prove Costly As Chicago Falls In Oakland

caleb-hanie

Caleb Hanie completed 18 of 36 pass attempts for 254 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in a 25-20 loss to Oakland on Sunday.

His completion percentage was 50%, while his QB rating was 56.9.

All three of his three interceptions came in the first half, luckily the Bears defense held the Raiders to only six points off those mistakes by Hanie.

The New York Giants travel to New Orleans tonight to take on the Saints at the Superdome.

The Saints lead the NFC South with a record of 7-3, while the Giants trail the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East with a record of 6-4.

Since their bye week in week 7, the Giants have lost two of the four games and need to win this one to keep the pressure on the Cowboys. With the Saints coming off a bye week and playing at home, they are going to be tough to beat.

Update: All but one of the spreads are in now. Post updated with the late-addition spreads and my picks.

Damnit.

Another subpar week (4-7-2) has me at 72-78-7 for the season, a winning percentage of 45.9%. That just sucks. We all figured this season would be a bit unpredictable because of the lockout, and certainly it has been (the 49ers are 9-1!!!), but I never thought I’d struggle this much.

It’s time for a strong finish down the stretch, beginning with this week’s Thanksgiving Day games.

Adrian Peterson Injury Update: High Ankle Sprain, Status For Week 12 In Doubt

adrian-peterson-injury-update

One of the big stories coming out of Sunday’s games, in addition to Jay Cutler’s injury, was the injury to Adrian Peterson that forced the league’s best running back to miss most of Minnesota’s loss to Oakland (which surely induced many more crocodile tears).

Fortunately, it sounds like Peterson avoided any serious damage to one of the appendages that helps him run all day.

NFL Football on Thanksgiving Day: Games, TV Schedule, Point Spreads, and Predictions

nfl-thanksgiving-schedule-2010

Can you believe we’re only 3 days from Thanksgiving?

Maybe it’s the unseasonably warm weather here in Ohio, or the absence of NBA games that were supposed to have already started, or that I haven’t heard a whole lot about this year’s Black Friday mega-deals, but it sure seems like Turkey Day snuck up on me this year.

I declared myself “back” last week after reversing a bad trend of sub-.500 records by going 9-5. In Week 12, I backed that statement up with another solid day. I’m sitting at 7-4-1 heading into tonight’s Monday nighter. If the Broncos can keep the game within double digits, I’ll have another very solid week notched into the 2010 docket. Even if they lose, I’m two games over for Week 12, which I’ll take every single time.

[Note: Denver did not keep it within double digits. Not even close. 7-5-1 it is.]

I’m getting the Bettor’s Guide up early this week because of the three Thanksgiving Day games on Thursday. I know that a lot of the spreads aren’t posted yet, but I’ll update this post with those spreads and picks when they are available.

Viewer’s Guide: NFL Week 12 TV Schedule and Announcer Assignments

The highlight of the NFL Week 12 schedule, as always, is the Thanksgiving Day slate of games. With Dallas’ reemergence under Jason Garrett and Detroit’s competitiveness this season, it’s possible the two early games could be quite entertaining. And with the Jets playing everyone down to the wire, there is also a good chance of a good Thanksgiving night game as well.

As for Sunday, there are a couple of key NFC battles to keep an eye on. Philly travels to Chicago and Green Bay travels to Atlanta in battles of possible playoff teams. Another surprising game between possible playoff teams is the Jags-Giants battle. We’ll see New York can limit the turnovers enough to steal a win without its two top receivers.

Thanksgiving Day Football Preview: Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

The good news is that the Detroit Lions came up with a valiant effort last Sunday to get their second win of the season.

The bad news is that it came against the Cleveland Browns, and it came at a cost.

The NFL betting crowd would like to back the Lions at home on Thanksgiving, especially since they did such a good job to sell out their stadium this week, but the reality is that they don’t have much of a chance to win this game.

NFL Power Rankings: Week 12 (Shakira Edition)

shakira-beach

As you know, Myles typically compiles the NFL Power Rankings on a weekly basis and then I provide running commentary throughout.

Last week, Myles threw down the gauntlet and challenged me to rank the top 15 teams in the NFL, after which he would edit and provide commentary.

In my effort to provide you with the best Power Rankings possible, I obviously obliged.

So here I am, and for at least one week folks, you will actually get objective and rational analysis about the best teams in the NFL. In addition, I have ensured that my Week 12 Power Rankings are far better than anything ever produced by Big MB by decorating them with pictures of Shakira.

Enjoy.

Two weeks left before the playoffs in standard league play. There is no room for making careless errors on who you start and sit.

Aside from who to start and sit and the sleepers we’ll uncover for you tomorrow, make sure your starters are actually going to be on the football field and not on the bench.

Let’s roll through some of the pertinent injury updates for Week 12:
