Fantasy Football Black & White: Will Matt Forte go boom or bust in 2010?

[Editor's note: Welcome to the first installment of Fantasy Football Black & White, a weekly fantasy football debate between MSF's own Jerod Morris and Robert Littal from Black Sports Online. Each week, Jerod and Rob will figure out what they genuinely disagree on and then analyze it for you in simple black and white terms, 250 words or less. Then you get the final decision. Is it black...or is it white? Michael Jackson couldn't decide...can you?]

In today’s edition of Black & White, Rob and Jerod debate Chicago Bears RB Matt Forte, who was one of the biggest disappointments of the 2009 season.

10 Things I KNOW I Think About Fantasy Football in 2010

I really, really like and enjoy Peter King.

He writes one of the most widely read football columns in America, which may be the most widely read, but I don’t have the stats so I don’t know for sure. What I do know is that’s King’s Monday Morning Quarterback column is widely read with good reason, and I never miss one.

King, first and foremost, seems like a genuinely good and nice guy, and he is exceedingly likable. He is also a passionate football fan who relates well with his readers, is a competent writer, and is extremely well connected. When you have all of those attributes, plus you’ve been around for a while, you can provide useful NFL analysis and galvanize a pretty extensive reader base.

However, as a longtime Peter King reader, let me give you a word to the wise: take his fantasy advice with more than a few grains of salt.

While watching the Browns-Chiefs game on Sunday, one thought dominated my mind: WTF?

Who would have thought that in Week 15, when most leagues are in their Final Four, that the best RB you could have had starting would be Jerome Harrison…or that Joshua Cribbs would total 300+ yards and score 2 TDs.

Unbelievable right?

Well, that’s the beauty and the frustration of fantasy football, and last week certainly proved that nothing is a sure thing in this schizophrenic game that we all play and love.

Now we sit here in Week 16, with some leagues in their championship week while others are in their Final Four, and the only real certainty is that someone unexpected will rise up and have a ridiculous Week 16. The only questions are who it will be and whether or not you will have that player on your roster.

Fantasy Football Week 15 Start Em, Sit Em Lineup Advice and Projections

fantasy-football-week-15

The Week 17 start em, sit em lineup advice post is up.

——————–

Update 12/19: I am all updated on the questions in the comments as 7:30 this morning. I will do my best to answer questions between now and kickoff, but please have patience if it takes a little while to answer. I’ll be out Christmas shopping and doing all other kinds of running around today. Halelujah for the iPhone.

The playoffs are here (unless, of course, your playoffs started last week), which means that each of us will be agonizing over and obsessing about every lineup decision we are faced with this week.

Before I get into this week’s start ‘em, sit ‘em picks and projections, I want to give you two very important pieces of advice: don’t outthink yourself and remember that stars are stars for a reason.

I tell you this because while taking a glance through the QBs, it dawned on me that Jason Campbell might very well be a better start in Week 15 than Tom Brady.

Sounds crazy right?

Well, Campbell has throw seven TDs over the past three weeks and faces a Giants defense that would probably give up 200 yards passing and a couple of TDs to Navy. Tom Brady, on the other hand, has thrown only three TD passes over the last three weeks and faces Buffalo’s very stiff pass defense.

When you look at the stats that way, it almost looks like a slam dunk that you should start Campbell right?

Well I wouldn’t. And you know what? I wouldn’t sit Randy Moss either.

Bears-49ers Thursday Night Football Fantasy Start/Sit Analysis

Thursday night football is here, which means that our usual lineup setting routines are now thrown out of whack.

Though the Thursday night game won’t affect every team every week, most of us, across all of the leagues that we play in, will most likely have a key decision or two that will have to be made three days earlier than before.

This is annoying and can lead to the unnecessary benching and/or starting of players. The trade-off, however, is an extra night with an NFL game.

Sounds reasonable to me.

Because I know that many of you will be late to the party in realizing that you have to decide on your Bears and 49ers players by tonight, I have taken the liberty of doing the dirty work for you. Here is your 49ers-Bears fantasy analysis, complete with start/sit recommendations so you don’t even have to think about it.
