Fantasy Football Start em, Sit em Advice for Week 10

jay-cutler-fantasy-football-week-10-start-em-sit-em

There are many different factors that make fantasy football difficult: bye weeks; injuries; random lucky days for your opponent; and worst of all, Chris Johnson.

In my opinion though, the hardest thing is staying in the present.

What do I mean?

Fantasy Football Week 8 Start Em, Sit Em Lineup Advice, Projections, and Roster Q&A

I’mmm baaaaaaccccckkkkk!

Did you miss me?

Jon has himself a busy schedule this week, so he texted me this morning and asked if I’d be up for reprising my role as the author of our weekly Start/Sit column here at MSF. I have to admit, as soon as I saw his text I was pretty pumped.

Doing these posts every week, week after week, can admittedly be a bit of a grind, as I learned over the last couple of years; so I was happy to let Jon take it over this year and focus my efforts in other areas. But I’ve missed the weekly challenge of poring over matchups and stats and trends to figure out which players to recommend to you as starts and sits.

So it’s good to be back in the saddle.

Anyway, It’s not like I’ve been totally absent. I still offer commentary on Jon’s posts, answer questions in the comment sections, and monitor the @FantasyMSF Twitter account. So I haven’t really given you a chance to miss me even if you wanted to. Now though, for the first time all year, I have to go on record with start and sit picks.

I’m ready. Let’s roll.

Fantasy Football Week 8 Waiver Wire Advice and Pickups

fantasy-football-week-8-waiver-wire-pickups-michael-crabtree

Yesterday was a brutal Sunday in the NFL, both in terms of injuries and the quality of play.  With so many prominent fantasy players banged up and six more teams on bye in Week Eight (Atlanta, Chicago, Green Bay, New York Jets, Oakland, and Tampa Bay), the waiver wire will once again be a popular destination.

After losing my Week 1 matchup for fantasy, I am ready to call it quits. Not sure I’m cut out for this.

The first week was full of hard-hitting action and high scores, and with that combination comes the injuries. Here’s your injury update to make sure your second week goes better than my first!

Fantasy Football Week 1 Start Em, Sit Em Lineup Advice, Player Projections, and Roster Q&A

fantasy football week 1 start em sit em lineup advice player projections roster q&a

Week One is finally here. You have done all the research (you know, the usual: waiver wire picksinjury updatescomparing QBs to Michael Jackson songs…), you have gone through your draft, and most importantly, you have started talking smack to everyone in your league.

You only have one job left to do: start the right guys.

Nothing could be worse than having an awesome team…on your bench.

Each and every one of us has a fantasy sob story or two, and it’s almost a guarantee that one of them revolves around sitting the wrong guy.

So who are you going to start this week?

Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings: Don’t Be Lured By Sleepers In 2011

adrian-peterson-injury-update

Everyone loves to draft a guy that he thinks is a sleeper.  Why?  Because it’s our way of proving to everyone else that, “Yes, I know more than you.” Beyond that, it’s simply quite fun to draft a guy that surprises everybody else.

Like I said before, it’s not that fun to draft Ichiro.  You know exactly what you’re getting.  (Or at least you used to know, before this season.) On the flip side, thinking about Jason Heyward’s upside gives us all visions of glory.

But when it comes to drafting running backs for your fantasy football team this year, save the “sleepers” for other positions.

Fantasy Football Week 7 Start / Sit Projections and Lineup Advice

I am watching Neftali Feliz close out the Yankees in Game 3 as I put the finishing touches on this week’s Start em, Sit em post. Right now, this series is through three game, the Rangers have absolutely dominated all but one inning, yet the Yankees find themselves down just a game.

If AJ Burnett can somehow pitch well in Game 4 and the Yankees win, they will find themselves at a very fortuitous 2-2…but 2-2 nonetheless.

Keep this in mind with your fantasy teams.

Knowshon Moreno Injury Update: Ruled OUT for Sunday’s Game v Indianapolis

Mark this in the WTF category.

Despite not appearing on the injury report all week (and I didn’t even mention him during this morning’s injury update), Broncos running back Knowshon Moreno is apparently injured and has been ruled OUT for Sunday’s game against the Colts.

Fantasy Football Week 3 Start Em, Sit Em Lineup Advice

As I anticipated it would be, Week 2 was much better for me than Week 1. It’s always nice to be able to see everyone play a real game before trying to prognosticate how they will do.

Week 2 wasn’t perfect, but still a rather solid performance.

The hits and misses:

  • Start ‘em hits: LeSean McCoy, Chris Cooley, Oakland D, Austin Collie
  • Start ‘em misses: Eli Manning
  • Sit ‘em hits: Brett Favre, Felix Jones, Owen Daniels, Buffalo Bills D, Michael Crabtree
  • Sit ‘em misses:

But no resting on our laurels. Week 2 is over. Let’s turn the page to Week 3 and see who should start and who should sit.

Fantasy Quick Hit: Ranking Slaton, Mendenhall, Harrison, Moreno, and Coffee for Week 5

While preparing to answer another wave of questions in the comment section of my Week 5 start em, sit em post, the lightbulb of inspiration flickered above my head.

I spend so much time answering similar questions about similar players, that I might as well consolidate some of those answers into posts.

Don’t worry, I’ll still answer your comments directly. But for the myriad people who are interested in Steve Slaton, Rashard Mendenhall, Jerome Harrison, Knowshon Moreno, and Glenn Coffee in Week 5 — many of whom seem to be faced with the task of choosing between two or three of them for starting spots — this post should help.

Here are my quick hit Week 5 rankings for these five players this week, plus some explanation.

Fantasy Football Week 4 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Lineup Advice and Projections

brandon-marshall

The Week 17 start em, sit em lineup advice post is up.

——————–

Looking back at my Week 3 Start Em, Sit Em post as I begin Week 4′s, and it was a pretty solid week.

The definite hits: Derrick Mason (start), Brent Celek (start), Denver D (start), Carson Palmer (sit), Ben Watson (sit), Donnie Avery (sit).

The definite misses: Trent Edwards (start), Dallas D (sit).

The ones I predicted relatively well but touchdowns (or lack thereof) skewed value: Steve Slaton (start), Cedric Benson (sit).

All in all, a pretty solid week, and hopefully most of the 157 comments on that post led to sound fantasy decision making for everyone.

And now, it’s time to do it all over again.

As we pointed out in our recently posted NFL Week 4 TV schedule, odds, and picks post, the following teams all have byes this weekend: Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Eagles. Obviously keep that in mind when you’re setting your lineups.

And remember: I’m trying to avoid the obvious choices here and instead pinpoint guys that folks might be on the fence about. And as we do every week, I will do my absolute best to answer every question that comes through in the comment section.

[Editor's Note: At some point in the not-to-distant future, MSF will be holding special, "members-only" Sunday morning live chats to help you out with all of your last minute fantasy football decision making. We are going to be hosting these sessions at our new MSF community at Explodium.com.

I'll be writing a post at some point soon telling you about Explodium, but it's pretty badass. When you click on the link, you do have to sign up, but it's free...and trust me, the benefits are there well beyond our Sunday morning fantasy help.]

Now, onto the Week 4 start ‘em, sit ‘em picks:
