So I’m going to be honest with you…I’ve kind of been focused on baseball this week. Don’t worry. I didn’t completely forget about football thought.
Here’s your injury update for week 8!

So how’s everyone’s fantasy team doing? Are you confident like the dominating Green Bay Packers or feeling a little lost like the unfortunate Minnesota Vikings? If it’s the latter…well maybe you’re not paying close enough attention to my injury updates! Then again my team is 1-3. Yeesh.
Here are the injury updates for Week 5 of the fantasy football season.

Week Three is here, and hopefully you aren’t 0-2. Don’t worry, it’s still not panic time…but it very well could be time to shake some things up. As always, let’s recap last week’s predictions before looking ahead.
Because we at MSF try our best to get you our Start Em, Sit Em picks before everyone else, we have to take a few chances. One of the downsides to coming out with these picks on Tuesday is that we won’t know all of the injury updates that come out later in the week. We answer your questions and update our predictions accordingly as more information comes out.
However, a few predictions didn’t pan out this week because of injuries (either during the game, or because guys with nagging injuries didn’t end up suiting up on Sunday)…so out of fairness to me, we are going to throw out Michael Vick, Felix Jones, and Dez Bryant.
So besides those guys who caught the injury bug, I went 29 out of 46 overall…a little under 65%. I improved from week one…and that’s exactly what you should try to do from week to week in fantasy.

This game seemed far more intriguing when it was originally scheduled.
Not only are the Colts missing Peyton Manning, but Kerry Collins is now nursing a shoulder injury. He is expected to play, but he will not be at full strength.
The Colts are bad, and everyone knows it. They are a completely different team without Manning at the helm, and it is unfair for their fans to expect a playoff team this season. That is, unless Peyton makes a miraculous comeback before their record is too bad.
The game will certainly feature countless mentions of how Peyton Manning is hurt, and his effect on the team. What should be talked about is how well the Steelers played in their last game against Seattle, in which they shutout the Seahawks.

Week 1 had some crazy swings that I don’t believe anyone could have expected.
LeGarrette Blount only given five carries?!
Steve Smith for 178 yards?! Listen, I knew that Arizona was trying to figure out their secondary and was very weak after getting rid of Rodgers-Cromartie, but I never would have recommended you play Cam Newton in his first game as a pro!
I have a friend, to save his identity we will call him Kentoso, who had a great draft and his team blew up this week which was expected, but he blew up in an unexpected spot. He had both Stafford and Calvin Johnson. While I thought both of them would do well, I didn’t think they would do that well together. Stafford is dedicated to getting the ball to his best receiver. Much like Stafford, Kentoso is dedicated to a few things; fantasy football, pairing a strong receiver/ QB together, and drinking until he has no shame.
This week’s predictions will look at QB dedications that they will try to exploit this week or lose trying.
By Week 11, the bye weeks are over and the playoff picture is becoming clear in your league(s). You are either researching waiver wire sleepers because you a) need someone with upside to win a key Week 11 battle, or b) you are in the playoffs already and are looking down the road to guys who can help you win a championship.
So my goal with this week’s waiver wire sleeper column is to satisfy both searches.

The 2008 Tennessee Titans have been something of a juggernaut. The stifling defense came out of nowhere for non-fantasy football players and the emergence of Kerry Collins as a *gulp* competent QB has not only raised a lot of eyebrows, its blown most of the AFC south away.
Their 4 game lead on Indianapolis could prove to be something of a shifting of the guard, and Vince Young could prove to be the most unnecessary draft pick this side of Brian Bosworth. Maybe it’s because I am an Oakland fan, but Kerry Collins is starting? And winning? Can anyone please explain this to me?
I believe this can be attributed to three things. The first being a mediocre schedule. Let’s look at a few of the teams they have played. Jacksonville has been a huge disappointment (and If I were a player there I would fear Del Rio, fear him so much that there is a possibility maybe it would distract me from my on-field duties), Cincy has been a lame duck, Kansas City is coached by Herm Edwards (Great press conferences, bad coach), and the Colts are not what they have been the last few years. Their upcoming schedule isn’t much either, as there are only two games (this week against Green Bay and later Pittsburgh) that I can foresee them losing.
Tonight at 8:30 ET on ESPN, the 3-3 Indianapolis Colts travel to Nashville to take on the 6-0 Tennessee Titans. A quick perusal of the numbers and it is extremely difficult to see how this will be a competitive game:
—Tennessee has outscored its opponents 149-66. The Colts have been outscored 128-131.
—The Colts can’t stop the run, while Tennessee may be the most proficient running team in the NFL with the “Slash n Dash” combo of rookie Chris Johnson and LenDale White.
—Tennessee’s defense has been absolutely stifling all year, allowing only 268.5 yards per game. The normally high-octane Colts offense has been inconsistent and out of sync for much of the season, averaging a lethargic 70 yards rushing per game.
—The Colts have been decimated with injuries to key players like Joseph Addai and Bob Sanders. The Titans have been relatively healthy, although they are dealing with nagging injuries to two top receivers, Justin Gage and Justin McCareins.
Looks like a blowout win for the Titans right? Well, I say not so fast.
