Week 14 is here.

For some of you, that means you have a team (or hopefully teams) on bye this week. If so, major kudos to you.

For others of you, Week 14 means that it’s the first week of the playoffs. If so, good luck, and hopefully the advice in this post will help you move on.

For others, Week 14 is the last week of your regular season. Maybe you’ve clinched a playoff spot or maybe you’re still scratching and clawing for one. Regardless, hopefully we can do you and your lineup some good with our picks in this week’s start em, sit em.

And for some of you this may be your first week without fantasy football – if your playoffs start this week and you did not make it; but if that’s the case, why would you be reading this?

Alas, if you’re here, you are looking for help in Week 14. And you’re in luck, because that is exactly what you’re about to get.

miles_austin-injury-updates-week-13

I can’t believe it’s already week 13 of the football season. I felt like just a few days ago we wondering if the lockout would end in time for the season. It’s crunch time now for fantasy teams as we fast approach the playoffs for the fantasy league.

Let’s take a look at the crucial injuries for this week’s games.

Fantasy Football Thanksgiving Week Stock Watch

josh-freeman-fantasy-football-thanksgiving-week-stock-watch

Thanksgiving is a football fan’s dream: plenty of good food and plenty of good football.

Even though some fantasy owners don’t like their guys playing so early, it could actually work in your favor if you are down a pretty big margin after the Thursday games have ended and taking a big risk is necessary.

No byes again this week, so getting a lucky matchup with your opposition missing Aaron Rodgers and Matt Forte are over.

Please, enjoy your holiday and this week’s Stock Report.  (And find a replacement for Fred Jackson fast.)

How many NFL teams would trade their current QB for Cam Newton right now?

cam-newton-fantasy-football-week-11-rankings

How many teams would trade their current QB, right now, for Cam Newton?

This is a question I’ve been thinking about a lot over the past several weeks, as I continue to be more and more impressed (and surprised) by how well Cam Newton is transitioning to the NFL in his first season.

Fantasy Football Week 7 Start em Sit em Advice: Consensus Top 10 Start/Sit Picks

-kansas-city-chiefs-monday-night-football-preview-point-spread-prediction-matt-cassel

This has got to be one of the most confounding fantasy football weeks I can remember.

With some many teams rich in fantasy talent (Patriots, Giants, Eagles, Bills, plus the 49ers and Bengals) observing their bye this week, it means that we all are having to dig deep into our benches and even onto the waiver wire just to field complete lineups. During such weeks is when start/sit advice is its most valuable, and as always we have you covered here at MSF.

Chicago Bears vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers Preview and Prediction

fantasy-football-week-10-tips-jay-cutler

Sunday’s game between the Chicago Bears and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will not be played in the United States, but overseas at the Wembley Stadium in London.

The Bucs have been a success story that has been overlooked by the majority of the media (or at least the mainstream media), but that shouldn’t be the case. Tampa is now 4-2, coming off an impressive win over the New Orleans Saints. Their other wins — against Minnesota and Atlanta — may not be as intimidating, but I wouldn’t label the Bucs as a team you can overlook.

Fantasy Football Week 6 Start Em Sit Em Picks and Player Projections for Hillis, Hernandez, Dez, Stevie J, and more

fantasy-football-week-8-start-em-sit-em-lineup-advice-projections-peyton-hillis

Is 2011 going to be the highest scoring fantasy season of all time?  All signs indicate that it could be.  Last season, seven players finished the season with more than 270 points (ESPN Standard Scoring).  After four weeks this season, a staggering 18 players were on pace to beat that mark…and nine of them were QBs.

Like I said at the beginning of the season, gone are the days of fantasy rule by the RBs.  Of those 18 players, only 5 are RBs…simply a staggering thought to anyone living in 2006 or before.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Stock Report: Sanchez, Decker UP; Fitzpatrick, Colston DOWN

mark-sanchez-fantasy-football-week-10-stock-report

Oh byes.

We don’t like them, but the players do need their rest.  With the rest periods starting now, there are some crucial decisions that need to be made regarding your roster.

Who is going to fill in for Ray Rice?  Issac Redman can’t carry the load for an injured Mendenhall…can he?  And so many more.

Now is the time that we want to highlight players who might be on your bench or floating around on waivers waiting to be picked up in hopes that he can provide that stopgap service.  Everyone knows that Jason Witten is good for your health but how about Brandon Pettigrew?

There are questions galore to be answered in the Week 5 stock report.

fantasy football week 1 start em sit em lineup advice player projections roster q&a

Week One is finally here. You have done all the research (you know, the usual: waiver wire picksinjury updatescomparing QBs to Michael Jackson songs…), you have gone through your draft, and most importantly, you have started talking smack to everyone in your league.

You only have one job left to do: start the right guys.

Nothing could be worse than having an awesome team…on your bench.

Each and every one of us has a fantasy sob story or two, and it’s almost a guarantee that one of them revolves around sitting the wrong guy.

All 32 Week One NFL Starting QBs…as Michael Jackson Songs

thumb

When Super Bowl XLVI arrives in Indianapolis come February 2012, it will be 19 years since one of the most iconic moments in the history of America’s most popular sporting event: Michael Jackson’s epic 1993 halftime show.

Unfortunately, the eternal King of Pop is no longer with us (he would have turned 53 just a few days ago on August 29th), and he thus he will never be able to follow in the footsteps of Bruce Springsteen, The Who, John Mellencamp, and others who have taken to the Super Bowl stage as older musicians, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t weave the musical brilliance of Michael Jackson into a post about the National Football League.

So enjoy this homage to my favorite musician of all time, Michael Jackson, as we kick off our coverage of the 2011 NFL season. Here are all 32 Week One starting QBs in the NFL…as Michael Jackson songs.

Fantasy Football QB Rankings for 2011: Top 15 plus the “Stay Aways”

san-diego-chargers-kansas-city-chiefs-monday-night-football-preview-point-spread-prediction

Well running backs, it was a good run (no pun intended).  For over ten years, you have been fantasy football gold.  The old cliche was that when draft night came, it was best to draft running backs early and often.

However, with the arrival of platoons in the backfield, a greater emphasis on passing, and unbelievable rule adjustments that make it practically impossible to defend the pass, running backs just aren’t as valuable as they once were.

In fact, one could easily make the case that there are several players of other positions who are more valuable than even the top running backs.  This has never been more the case than it is this year at the Quarterback position.

But which quarterbacks should you be targeting in your drafts or when the free weekly FanDuel beat-the-expert contest starts?  And which ones should you stay away from?

Just like I did earlier this week in ranking the running backs, here are my top 15 fantasy QBs for 2011, as well as my suggestions for who you should stay away from.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Start / Sit Picks

Well, it all comes down to this.

As I put the finishing touches on this week’s Start ‘em, Sit ‘em post, I currently lead my Week 13 opponent (Brian Bassett of The Jets Blog) 61.22-36.20 in the P&G-sponsored Blogger Fantasy Football League*.

Before you get too excited for me though, take a look at who he still has left to play: QB Mark Sanchez; RB Shonn Greene; WR Danny Woodhead; TE Dustin Keller; D/ST New York Jets. Basically, if those five players average five points a piece, I’m toast.

What will make a loss burn even more is that the team I needed to lose, PUNTE‘s squad, did in fact lose. A win and I am a single game out of the final playoff spot with one week to play. I’ll have a fighting chance. A loss and I’m done, just playing Week 14 for pride.

Needless to say, I will be watching the Monday night game with great intrigue, hoping for a miracle.

Update: I don’t know how the hell it happened, but I won! Still alive baby!

Josh Freeman for NFL MVP

josh-freeman-fantasy-football-thanksgiving-week-stock-watch

With only six games left in the 2010 NFL season, it is natural for people to look for this year’s possible MVP candidates. This year’s most popular names are Philip Rivers, Michael Vick and Tom Brady.

Today however, we are going to look at a different quarterback who deserves the same amount of attention and publicity as anyone.

Josh Freeman.
