Every week in fantasy football there will be guys who seemingly come out of nowhere and stars who disappoint. Let’s take a look at some players who fit each of those descriptions.

This has been a crazy week for injuries, but such is life as the season nears its midway point. Sometimes supposedly injured players practice, sometimes seemingly healthy players sit out, and then sometimes guys like Jimmy Graham gets placed on the injury report late in the week out of the blue. Let’s get started and see what this week’s key injuries look like heading into Sunday.

It looks like this is the week of the missing quarterback as owners have to deal with the bye weeks of Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tom Brady, Eli Manning and Michael Vick. This is a turning point of the season for a lot of teams and fantasy owners alike. Those who are 5-1 feel good, while the 1-5’s may have chalked the season up as a loss already, and those who are 3-3 are biting their nails like LeBron James. (I wonder how he would do as a fantasy tight-end…)
Staying on the topic of quarterbacks, this week we will see some newcomers who will be thrust into the starting role. Though you shouldn’t hold your breath waiting for Christian Ponder to make headlines in Minnesota, we’ve got other names to know for you in this week’s Stock Report.

This has got to be one of the most confounding fantasy football weeks I can remember.
With some many teams rich in fantasy talent (Patriots, Giants, Eagles, Bills, plus the 49ers and Bengals) observing their bye this week, it means that we all are having to dig deep into our benches and even onto the waiver wire just to field complete lineups. During such weeks is when start/sit advice is its most valuable, and as always we have you covered here at MSF.

With six weeks in the books, you know where you stand and kind of team you have. You are either in coasting mode, maybe trying to find that one more player to complete your lineup, or you are barely breathing as you make every trade offer and waiver wire pickup you can. If you are in the latter group, take heed: there is help. There is still a way to win.
At this point in the season, we have collected enough data and stats to make more sound decisions. Then again, it’s all how you interpret those statistics. Here are a few I find interesting.

You’ve already learned which players are ripe for picking off of the waiver wire, and which players you should start or sit based on their Week 7 matchups. Now it’s time to see how each player stacks up against others at his position, and to use the “wisdom of crowds” to do so.
Here are the consensus player rankings for Week 7 of the fantasy football season at QB, RB, WR, TE, K, and D/ST, as provided by our friends at PlayThisGuy.com, who compile these rankings from a variety of great fantasy sources.

Well, that was fast.
As soon as I opened up my big mouth and proclaimed that 2011 was going to be the most prolific fantasy year ever, scoring around the league plummets. No worries.
At least I had a great week on the predictions front, as I was right on nearly 80% of my picks.
As always, here is a quick look back at last week before we move on to week 7.

I updated the rankings yesterday, but after completing this week’s injury updates I feel compelled to updated them again.
Hey, fantasy football is a fluid game. We get more information every day that helps us make more educated decisions. You should be pissed at me if I wasn’t updating these rankings so often!
So here are my latest Week 7 rankings, updated to reflect the latest information on every fantasy-relevant player for Week 7.
The biggest riser is Patrick Crayton, who officially is the only healthy Chargers WR right now.
Update 10/22: The Week 7 rankings have been updated yet again. Click here.
We’ve already told you which waiver wire sleepers you should be targeting, and which players you should start and sit for Week 7 of the fantasy football season.
Now we show you how every fantasy-relevant player stacks up in this week’s player rankings.
So far this season I am at least two games over .500 in all six of my fantasy leagues, including my team the P&G-sponsored Blogger Fantasy Football League* (where the winner goes to the Super Bowl!). One of the main reasons I have been able to be so consistent this year that I don’t procrastinate each week when it comes to improving my team.
It’s imperative that you’re ready with waiver claims before the weekly deadline, or that you pounce on guys immediately after the waiver period has ended. And obviously you want to grab the right guys. That’s why each week we run down players at every position who can help you out for that week and beyond.
Here are our waiver wire sleeper targets for Week 7.

I’ve got a flight to catch at 5:20 — headed to Cleveland for the Sports Media 360 conference — and a full day of work to squeeze in between now and when I leave the office around 2:30. Thus, there is no time to waste.
Let’s get right to our usual Friday Morning Would debate.
Today, we are going to look at two running backs who have had up and down seasons to this point: Dallas battering ram Marion Barber and Panthers second-year scamperer Jonathan Stewart.
A few weeks ago, when Barber was tearing it up and Stewart was on the sidelines nursing what seemed to be an endless array of maladies, this would have been a no-brainer.
But as we know, things can change quickly in the NFL. And as Week 7 approaches, I am suggesting that you start Jonathan Stewart over Marion Barber.
Here’s why:

Coming off of a great Week 6 for ProFootballinsight’s sleepers and waiver wire steals, we have some great Week 7 advice for you to help you replace players who are on bye, injured, or just plan under performing.
We’ll do a brief recap of last week and then get into a couple of running backs who may be available in your league and who could be in store for very nice days this Sunday.

Just a couple of weeks ago it appeared like a realistic possibility that Michael Crabtree could sit out the entire 2009 seasons and re-enter the 2010 draft in one of the most ill-advised decisions ever.
Now, as we head into Week 7, Michael Crabtree is a starting WR in the NFL.
Amazing how quickly things change, huh?
Crabtree got into camp just as the 49ers were entering their bye week and has had two weeks to acclimate himself to the offense, to his teammates, and to life in the NFL. No-nonsense coach Mike Singletary apparently believes that Crabtree has acclimated himself quite well, considering he has reportedly pegged Crabtree to start over Josh Morgan this Sunday when the 49ers play Houston.
Now that Singletary has made his decision, fantasy football owners have their own decision to make: start or sit Michael Crabtree in Week 7?
