Beating a Dead Horse: Colts Fans Are The Worst

matt-ellis-colts-tattoos

Before the Super Bowl on Sunday, I became aware of the rumor that many a Colts fan were concerned about the upcoming snowstorm; and more specifically, whether or not it would affect their Super Bowl parade.

As it turns out, it will be twenty-eight degrees and snowy in Indianapolis today, with a zero percent chance of fandom. A parade, by definition, is unlikely.

After living in Indy from 2003 to 2009, I realized two things:

1) That John Cougar Mellencamp is not nearly as popular or talented as Hoosiers think; and

2) The Colts have the worst fans in football. Their display of “appreciation” yesterday further proved it.

WWSC: Why I Hate the F–king Colts

i-hate-the-colts

[Editor's Note: Throughout the day I participate in email conversations with friends about hot sports topics. One of my friends in particular is very active in these conversations. This is that friend.

For the record, he is an Indiana native who grew up in the Northwest part of the state and roots for the Bears. This post will shed some insight into why he did not choose the Colts.]

Miami is an…interesting…place.

I lived in Miami for two years after graduating from Indiana University and after living my entire life in Bloomington and West Lafayette (strange combo, I know). I’d been to Miami many times before, perhaps once a year on average, because my mom grew up there and we still have a lot of family down there.

That is why I am taking some time this morning to provide a few tips to all of the Hoosiers who will be heading down to Miami this week and next for the Super Bowl.

I know that many Colts fans made the jaunt a few years back when Indy beat Chicago in the Super Bowl, so some will have familiarity with the city, but I am sure that there will be many other Miami newbs bopping around las calles de Miami for the next fortnight. Those people need serious, expert, no-tongue-in-check-whatsoever advice.

And that’s why you come to Midwest Sports Fans.

Two More Reasons to Hate Colts Fans: Petulance and Patriots Envy

16-0 banner

This has gotten ridiculous.

Colts fans (for whom we previously counted down reasons why they suck) have officially lost all respectability with their reactions to Sunday’s 29-15 loss to the Jets.

While Sunday’s game caused some people to pop the cork on their champagne bottles in celebration (see: Shula, Don; Morris, Mercury; et al.), the Colts loss was still just their first of season.

GASP!

And now it has incited riot-like, idiotic reactions felt from South Bend to Evansville. Not to mention endlessly annoying national media coverage as they continued fielding emails from angry Colt fans on ESPN radio this morning. [Read more...]
