It’s hard to believe that Selection Sunday is now less than two months away, and the bubble watch will soon be in full effect. In the meantime, there continues to be a lot of movement thanks to the general inability of teams to win away from home.
With that in mind, here are this week’s risers and fallers.
Last weekend’s college basketball slate provided a little bit of everything, and a light schedule this week has given me time to absorb everything that happened.
So even though many teams took the week off due to finals, I am taking the opportunity to hand out some progress reports of my own.
On Monday, the college basketball season officially tips off. Just take a minute to let those words sink in.
Throughout the season, my goal is to highlight notable games so you can plan your weeknights and weekends accordingly. This week is fairly light until we get to Friday…when there are over 120 games to choose from, including the much anticipated Carrier Classic between Michigan State and North Carolina.
There is a huge, eagerly awaited game in the college basketball world on Wednesday night – with gigantic bracketology ramifications come March. In fact, the electricity is so high that many have camped for days outside the arena in hopes of scoring a coveted spot in the student section come gametime.
Needless to say, there will be plenty of hysteria, and the color blue will be painted all over the place.
Normally, sentences like above would be talking about Cameron Indoor Stadium as the backdrop for North Carolina-Duke, but that is not for another two weeks. THE game this week features the #4 ranked San Diego State Aztecs traveling to the Wasatch Front to face 9th-ranked BYU.

‘Are they contenders, or are they pretenders…?’
After a 2 week hiatus, due to much needed research for the upcoming college Bowl Season. The Guru is looking to go over the 60% mark picking against the spread this college football season.
Usually over the years the Guru nails the Bowl games, so hopefully history will repeat itself. We’ll begin by looking at tonight’s Last Vegas Bowl matchup between Oregon State and BYU.
