Fantasy Football Week 8 Stock Report: Battle, Braylon UP; Murray, DJax DOWN

Did you know that every team that is on a bye this week has a winning record?  I’m not sure if that has ever happened before but I’ll send John Clayton an email and see what he says. One of those teams on the bye, the Bears, has a running back that has two labels thrown at him. Is Matt Forte underrated or undervalued?  He may be both. The Bears front office better figure it out soon.

Now for this week we have some interesting picks for you, but a lot of them are on the down side of the stock.  I had one person ask me how I could have DeMarco Murray down this week after his big game last week; easy.  Just look at Adrian Peterson’s stats after he set the NFL record for yards in a game.  Stay here: he scored 5 points.

We have a special treat for you in this installment of the stock report: kickers, tricks and more.

Fantasy Football Week 6 Stock Report: Daniel Thomas, Darrius-Heyward Bay UP; Matt Schaub, Reggie Wayne DOWN

Luckily for a lot of owners, there are not many major players who have a bye this week, except for my team…but I have faith in Jay Cutler!

Regardless, there may be some surprises this week from a few highly unknown RBs.  This position may very well be the most important for owners in terms of touches for players, but on the professional level it is the most dispensable position, as almost anyone can succeed in the right situation.

If you are itching to see how Tim Tebow is going to follow up his breakthrough game in Week 5, then you are going to have to wait until next week, but if you want to hear a bunch of media chatter about him just turn on ESPN.

Having said that, we have a lot of good stuff for you in this week’s Stock Report.

Fantasy Football Week 6 Start Em Sit Em Picks and Player Projections for Hillis, Hernandez, Dez, Stevie J, and more

fantasy-football-week-8-start-em-sit-em-lineup-advice-projections-peyton-hillis

Is 2011 going to be the highest scoring fantasy season of all time?  All signs indicate that it could be.  Last season, seven players finished the season with more than 270 points (ESPN Standard Scoring).  After four weeks this season, a staggering 18 players were on pace to beat that mark…and nine of them were QBs.

Like I said at the beginning of the season, gone are the days of fantasy rule by the RBs.  Of those 18 players, only 5 are RBs…simply a staggering thought to anyone living in 2006 or before.

Injuries!

Andre Johnson is gone.  Ben Roethlisberger is banged up.  Miles Austin is on the mend.  Marques Colston is back, but when will he get on track?

With the bye weeks now here, the time has come when fantasy leagues are truly won and lost.  If you drafted well, and got a little lucky, you should be near the top of the standings.  But nobody can ever completely escape the injury bug.  Managing your lineup properly when byes and injuries attack is what separates the good owners from the great ones.

So let’s look at the Week Five games and decide who to start and who to sit this week.

Week Three is over, and you are probably wondering one thing: How is a guy that’s giving such great advice 0-3 in his own fantasy league?

I wish I knew…injuries have just killed me…and I’ve lost each week by an average of 1.2 points. Just heartbreaking.

Some of you are probably in the same boat as me. Even if you aren’t, it’s the time in the fantasy football season when leagues are won and lost. Now is when we have to start making the tough calls.

Fantasy Football Running Back Rankings: Don’t Be Lured By Sleepers In 2011

adrian-peterson-injury-update

Everyone loves to draft a guy that he thinks is a sleeper.  Why?  Because it’s our way of proving to everyone else that, “Yes, I know more than you.” Beyond that, it’s simply quite fun to draft a guy that surprises everybody else.

Like I said before, it’s not that fun to draft Ichiro.  You know exactly what you’re getting.  (Or at least you used to know, before this season.) On the flip side, thinking about Jason Heyward’s upside gives us all visions of glory.

But when it comes to drafting running backs for your fantasy football team this year, save the “sleepers” for other positions.

Fantasy Football Week 9 Start, Sit Picks and Projections

Last week I opened up the Start em, Sit em post by telling you about how was I was off to a strong 5-2 start in the P&G-sponsored Blogger Fantasy League*. With the stakes being two tickets to the Super Bowl, you can imagine how much focus I’ve put on doing well in this league.

This week, I must regretfully inform you that I lost in Week 8, falling to 5-3 with a 14 point loss. The worst part? A win was sitting on my bench.

The All-Undrafted Free Agent Fantasy Football Team

During Sunday’s games, my dad and I started discussing Davone Bess, who is quickly becoming not only one of my favorite fantasy players, but one of my favorite football players period.

I told him I couldn’t understand how a guy like Bess, who was so productive in college, could have been so unheralded entering the NFL. My dad, who has a personnel background, said that Bess was too slow and too small despite being a really good football player. I countered by saying that the concept of someone being a “good football player” is, ironically, far too often underrated when evaluating who will ultimately become a good football player at the NFL level.

To this, he agreed. He also said two interesting things:

Week 10 Fantasy Football Sleeper Focus | Camarillo, Green-Ellis, Mason, Curtis, Hill

Week 10 Fantasy Football SleepersIt’s grind time with playoff positions being decided over the next three to four weeks. Last week I directed all of my attention to answering your questions. This week, back to some sleeper advice. Here are a few players who should still be available on waiver wires that could make a positive impact on your teams this week for bye or injury fills.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis-RB-New England Patriots. The law firm of Ben,Jarvus,Green and Ellis has been a carbon copy of Tim Hightower in Arizona. Green-Ellis has been a goal line stud, as he has a touchdown in each of his last three games, averaging 12 plus carries a game.

Derrick Mason-WR-Baltimore Ravens. I said before that Derrick Mason was Joe Flacco’s favorite target, and after last week it was confirmed. When in trouble, Joe Flacco always looks for Derrick Mason to save him. This has happened with such consistency that I feel Derrick Mason is worth a start if you need help at the WR position.
