Remember, our goal here is to rank the top 25 players in the NBA right now.

Editor’s note: We are currently preparing an article in which a number of MSF writers submitted their top 20 NBA players of all-time. The goal is to see where Dirk falls in the top 20, or if he even makes it at all. Evan decided to narrow his scope a bit and go with the top 20 players of his lifetime. So we are posting his article first, with the mega top 20 article to come. Stay tuned…
Also note that Evan is 22 and says that he really started watching the NBA during the 1997-98 season.
It’s top-20 NBA Players mania around here right now, all thanks to Dirk Nowitzki’s superstar performance in earning his first ring this month. Everyone from announcers to journalists to bloggers are saying Dirk has hit legendary status, maybe even top 20 of all time. I think that sounds a tad high for Dirk, but he now has some serious hardware to reasonably back up the claim to a top-20 spot.
For my own part, I have always thought that the NBA MVP award was the most meaningful of any of the four major sports. Scan the list and you’ll notice every single winner is a Hall of Famer or well on his way to being enshrined. Dirk has his MVP award, he has his Finals MVP award, and most importantly he has his ring.
But is he on par with Larry Bird? Or is that just the most racially convenient historical comparison bandied by most experts?
Honestly, I don’t really know because I never actually saw Larry Bird play. But I have seen plenty of other great players, so for my Top-20 NBA Players list, I decided to restrict myself to those guys I’ve actually seen play. Here is my list with some highly subjective choices, some no doubters, and perhaps one begrudgingly included sharpshooter who burned my New York Knicks many years ago.
This past Sunday the New York Knicks were swept by the Boston Celtics. New York failed to win its first home playoff game in over a decade, and they could not even provide the fans with a decent game.
LeBron James. Dwyane Wade. Chris Bosh. Joe Johnson. Amar’e Stoudemire.
Without a doubt, those are the five names we will be hearing about most (if you’re not sick of them already) as soon as midnight strikes on good ‘ol July 1st.
Why?
Well, simply put, because each and everyone one of these players will not have an NBA team, will be in search of one, and will be in high demand.
Some might team up, some might go solo (again), others might make a trio, and could some go to Europe (okay, probably not). But heck, no one knows, especially when those so called “sources” are claiming that there are meetings being held in Miami, Chicago, via Skype, at LeBron’s house, and anywhere else you can imagine.
Whatever happens though, one thing is for sure: it will indeed change the course of the NBA’s future.
If you haven’t heard of the Amar’e trades you are one of two, you either have no life whatsoever, or you have so much of a life you could barely pay attention.
So to get to the point, the deadline is under 60 hours away, and one of the league’s best big man is about to be moved, and I can tell you it’ll be at least to two destiniations:
With much talk and confusion breaking loose, there needs to be someone to clear things up.
Ta-da, here I am! And here is what has been going on as of late with Amar’e, Cleveland and Miami.
Well everyone, the NBA season is nearing it’s halfway point, which can only mean a few things:
Now with the All-Star rosters set, and contestants for the 3-point and dunk contests ready, we begin to ask the usual question that everyone asks this time of year:
Who is going to be traded?
I may not know who exactly is going to be moved, but what I can tell you is that the following are the most likely to be moved somewhere, and I’d say there is a good chance that all will be moved before the deadline.
Enjoy.

Quite a sight around this time of year for NBA fans. First off, you have the excitement of NBA All-Star Weekend, which includes the highest flyers, best shooters, and the hottest celebrities.
Another reason to be jumpy is, of course, Feb. 18th. What is that, you ask? Well, it is the NBA trade deadline folks!
I’m sure you’ve heard plenty of names, such as Antawn Jamison, Chris Bosh, Andrew Bynum, etc. But for you folks out there who want a real juicy one, have you heard about the talks surrounding Amar’e Stoudemire?
And what can Cleveland do to keep the King?
Plenty more below.
