Here is Kurt’s annual against-the-spread picks for all 35 NCAA bowl games ending the 2012 season, along with players to watch for NFL Draft purposes.
It was an enjoyable time making these selections this year, even though the football wasn’t the best we’ve ever seen. Kevin wins this year’s contest by a total of 8 points, so congratulations to my Buckeye fanatic friend.
The college football regular season is coming to a close. Sigh. Even though there still remain conference championships and bowl games, this will be the final weekend for our Saturday selections.
After last week, Ohio State is now one win away from a perfect season, Indiana and Iowa are out of the postseason picture, and Michigan State and Purdue each need a win next weekend to secure a bowl berth.
We have reached the final two weeks of the Big Ten football regular season, and I must say that the games on tap for this Saturday are far from intriguing, though several have major implications.
After last Saturday, our picks contest has heated up a bit as well, as a perfectly picked slate by myself, and an off week by Kevin has pulled me to within seven games for the last stretch.
Entering the final stretch of the Big Ten season and our picks contest, the conference features some key match ups this weekend. Highlighting the day, at least for fans of the Leaders division, will be the Wisconsin vs. Indiana game, as the winner of this contest controls their own destiny at a chance to compete in the Big Ten Championship game.
Several teams had a lot to play for this past weekend, and while it hasn’t been a dream season for the Big Ten, some schools still have dreams they kept alive.
With just four weeks left the Big Ten Legends division is wide open, as Nebraska and Michigan each have a loss apiece, while Northwestern and Iowa sit with two losses in league play.
The theme for this week’s recap should be “One is the loneliest number…” seeing as how I picked only a single game correctly this past week. I am almost too embarrassed to continue the recap of last week’s games and pick. Almost.
Because Kevin witnessed one of the best games of the Big Ten season thus far, at the expense of me and my team, nothing would be sweeter than to get revenge this week by inching closer to his season total this week.
This had all the makings for an exciting week in conference play, yet I was left unsatisfied with the outcome of several of the games.
Who did Kevin and Dustin pick to win the Minnesota-Wisconsin game? What about the Michigan-Michigan State game?
Unfortunately for the Big Ten, there hasn’t been much shining going on, especially in the Leaders division. A few more key matchups this week will help give us a better understanding as to who might be playing in Indianapolis later this year, but there is still a long way to go.
