The crazy post-college story of Adam Muema just keeps getting weirder. On Wednesday the former San Diego State running back tweeted that he is done playing football. That came after a series of bizarre events that included leaving the NFL Scouting Combine early after claiming God told him to not work out.
Muema posted a picture of a conversation he had with someone named Angelus Domini in the tweet and said “I will NOT be playing FOOTBALL!”
This is all pretty insane, especially when you consider that Muema left San Diego State after his junior season to enter the NFL draft. He posted back-to-back seasons with at least 1,200 yards and 15 touchdowns and was expected to at least be a late-round pick.
Muema had a chance to impress scouts at the combine, but opted to forgo his workout, claiming that God’s dream was for him to play for the Seattle Seahawks. He said that God told him to skip the combine in order to make that happen.
After the combine, several people close to Muema claimed they lost touch with him for several days, despite repeated attempts to contact him. He resurfaced a few days later in Florida, wearing the same clothes he had on at the combine.
From all reports, Muema is apparently a nice, mild-mannered guy, and no one really saw this craziness coming. There is clearly something going on with him and we can only hope he gets some kind of professional help, because his life is all over the place right now.
Making decisions based on religious beliefs is one thing, but acting complete erratically and losing touch with people trying to help you is not healthy behavior.
In case you were wondering, no we do not believe Muema will be drafted.
