If you’re not a soccer aficionado you may not know who Zlatan Ibrahimovic is. If that’s the case, I feel truly sorry for you.
Ibrahimovic is a Sweedish striker who currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain in France and is one of the most incredible soccer players in the world. Seriously the guy’s highlight reel is one of the most impressive in any sport worldwide.
On Wednesday, Ibrahimovic did it again. During PSG’s 5-0 destruction of Anderlecht in the group stage of the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League, the 6-5 Swede scored four goals, but his third was truly a sight to behold.
After a slow buildup, Marco Veratti got Ibrahimovic the ball, and he sent it forward to Brazilian defender Maxwell, who was streaking down the left side. Maxwell sent a cross in toward Ezequiel Lavezzi, but it was cleared out by Anderlecht’s defense.
The ball landed right in front of Ibrahimovic, who uncorked a ridiculous, curving 30-yard volley that was clocked heading towards the goal at more than 70 miles per hour. The ball curved into the upper left corner of the goal past Anderlecht keeper Thomas Kaminski.
It was a truly gorgeous goal. Enjoy the video below.
