2013 NBA Draft: List of players invited to green room

On Sunday the NBA issued 10 preliminary invitations to its green room for Thursday’s 2013 NBA Draft. The league typically has between 13 and 15 players on hand during the draft, so there could be more invitations forthcoming.

Those invited so far are: Kentucky center Nerlens Noel, Indiana guard Victor Oladipo, Georgetown forward Otto Porter, Maryland center Alex Len, UNLV forward Anthony Bennett, Kansas guard Ben McLemore, Michigan guard Trey Burke, Syracuse guard Michael Carter-Williams, Lehigh guard C.J. McCollum and Indiana forward Cody Zeller.

NBA general managers are polled to determine which players are likely to be selected during the lottery, and the league issues green room invitations based on the results. A number of agents have also been told the league could add a few names to the list as the week goes on.

Other players who could receive invites are: Georgia guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Pittsburgh center Steven Adams, UCLA forward Shabazz Muhammad, Russian guard Sergey Karasev, Gonzaga forward Kelly Olynyk and Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo.

As of right now it appears Noel is still set to be the No. 1 pick in the draft, but his grip on the spot is tenuous, with Len knocking on the door at that spot. There are more questions at the top of this draft than we’ve seen in recent years and a lot of what happens will depend on what the Cleveland Cavaliers do with the first pick.
