Last night while you were waiting to see Paul McCartney stand in for Kurt Cobain in a one-song Nirvana reunion, the Nets played the Raptors.
Midway through the fourth quarter, with Nets forward Kris Humphries at the free-throw line, referee Courtney Kirkland flew through the lane like a fourth grader on a sugar binge and tried to block Humphries’ shot.
Kirkland had blown the whistle twice but decided that he needed to go to greater lengths to make sure Humphries got the message.
Humphries went 9-for-10 from the line on the night. (He hit the shot following Kirkland’s attempted rejection.) His Nets beat the Raptors 94-88.
