Before playing five games within the division to end the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Pittsburgh.
The Chiefs are tied with the Jaguars for the fewest wins in the NFL this season, with one. The Steelers are holding onto the last playoff spot in the AFC, so this game is a must-win for them if they intend to make the playoffs.
Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City is having another miserable season. Their only win came against the Saints in overtime, and it could have easily gone the Saints way. They are not the worst team in terms of statistics, but they are simply playing terrible football this season. They gain yards but cannot score often, and they do not allow many yards while still giving up points.
Matt Cassel has been nothing but a headache for the Chiefs and their fans. No, his team around him is not that great, but he could still play much better. He only has six touchdowns on the season to go with eleven interceptions, and he is only still starting because Brady Quinn is still out with his head injury.
The only way for the Chiefs to win will be if Jamaal Charles had a huge game. He has broken the 100-yard mark twice this season, which were the best two games played by Kansas City this year. He had 233 yards against the Saints in the team’s only win and 140 yards in a 9-6 loss to the Ravens.
Pittsburgh Steelers
After a slow start, the Steelers have won four of their last five to get to a record of 5-3. They are two wins behind the Ravens in the AFC North and could easily make that one with a win over the Chiefs.
The Steelers defeated the Chiefs last year in a close game, but the Chiefs are even worse now than they were last season.
Pittsburgh has the top overall defense in terms of yards allowed on average, which includes the top overall pass defense. They held Eli Manning to 125 yards last week and RG III to 177 the week before. It is unlikely that Matt Cassel will fare any better than those two, so he will surely be in for a rough game.
Chiefs-Steelers Prediction
The Steelers are the overwhelming favorites in this game, and it is a near certainty that they will win, and win big. They are undefeated at home this season, and will keep that going with a win over the Chiefs.
