NHL Lockout Solution: If NHL Doesn’t Play, Then WE Will!

In a completely shocking and unexpected turn of events, the NHL and NHLPA find themselves not able to agree on much of anything in their most recent day of meetings.

The NHLPA is fine with the 50/50 revenue sharing the NHL proposed last Tuesday, but they want the NHL to honor the current contracts.

Sounds reasonable, but the NHL does not think so, so we’re back to gridlock. The talks Thursday lasted only an hour, which gives the impression that the sides aren’t serious about negotiating.

To make matters worse, Friday morning the NHL announced the cancellation of the season until at least November 1st.

Everyone knows, except for the NHL and NHLPA, that the league can’t survive another cancellation of a season.

I am fed up with this puppet act, showcasing selfishness with total disregard for the fans who have spent thousands of dollars in ticket sales, merchandise, and many other things.

It’s really sad how greed and stubbornness can ruin what should be such a great league.

I am bringing back this picture because I love it, and it’s even  more true now.

I am done with all this CBA and NHL talk because it gets me too upset. But I still need some hockey! And I’m sure you do too.

So I’ve come up with a plan:

My friends and I play street hockey every single Christmas break. We have real-sized nets, goalie equipment, official sticks, and a dozen kids willing to spend almost the entire evening playing hockey in Indiana winter weather almost every day.

We also have fights, shootouts, and kids who enjoy wearing shorts in 20 degree weather.

If the NHL decides it doesn’t want to play hockey this season, I will videotape our games and allow you all to watch. I won’t even charge because it seems money only ruins this great game.

They may ruin the NHL for us, but they’re going to let them ruin hockey for us!
