As we head into Week 5, with a quarter of the season now over, we don’t know much … but we can make some definitive statements about what we’ve seen so far.
There are still three undefeated teams, plus two who are winless. We shall see if that still holds true following this week’s action.
Week 5 NFL Viewer’s and Bettor’s Guide
TV Schedule – Kickoff Times – Point Spreads – Picks
Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams
- Cardinals-Rams Date: Thursday, October 4
- Cardinals-Rams Kickoff Time: 8:20 PM
- Cardinals-Rams TV Network: NFL Network
- Cardinals-Rams Point Spread: Cardinals -2
- Cardinals-Rams Over-Under Odds: 39
- Cardinals-Rams Pick: The Cardinals are one of the three remaining undefeated teams in the league. Kevin Kolb threw a last-second touchdown to send last week’s game to overtime against Miami, which was eventually won in overtime. The Rams defeated the Seahawks to improve to 2-2, but the Cardinals are the clear favorite in this game. They may be seen as the most surprising undefeated team, but Kevin Kolb is becoming the right man for the job at quarterback, and he will continue to win games. Cardinals -2
Atlanta Falcons at Washington Redskins
- Falcons-Redskins Date: Sunday, October 7
- Falcons-Redskins Kickoff Time: 1 PM
- Falcons-Redskins TV Network: FOX
- Falcons-Redskins Point Spread: Falcons -3
- Falcons-Redskins Over-Under Odds: 50.5
- Falcons-Redskins Pick: The Falcons are another one of the three undefeated teams thus far, and they can easily win the argument for best team in the league. Matt Ryan connected on an amazing pass-and-catch to Roddy White last week to allow the Falcons to make a last-minute comeback against the Panthers. RG III and the Redskins defeated the Bucs to get back to their winning ways, but the Falcons are too dominant to pick against this week. Falcons -3
Philadelphia Eagles at Pittsburgh Steelers
- Eagles-Steelers Date: Sunday, October 7
- Eagles-Steelers Kickoff Time: 1 PM
- Eagles-Steelers TV Network: FOX
- Eagles-Steelers Point Spread: Steelers -3.5
- Eagles-Steelers Over-Under Odds: 44
- Eagles-Steelers Pick: The Steelers are a surprising favorite in this game, considering they are 1-2 compared to the Eagles who are 3-1. The Steelers were off last week while the Eagles took down the Giants on Sunday Night Football. The Steelers do have the home-field advantage, but look for the Eagles to find a way to win, or at least beat the spread in this game. Eagles +3.5
Green Bay Packers at Indianapolis Colts
- Packers-Colts Date: Sunday, October 7
- Packers-Colts Kickoff Time: 1 PM
- Packers-Colts TV Network: FOX
- Packers-Colts Point Spread: Packers -7
- Packers-Colts Over-Under Odds: 48
- Packers-Colts Pick: The Packers picked up a win over the winless Saints last week, which would seem much more important of a win had the Saints not been 0-3 coming in. The Colts had the week off following a loss to the Jaguars in Week 3. Andrew Luck is clearly going to be a star one day, but he is still a work in progress, along with the rest of his team. The spread in this game is tricky to pick, but go with the Packers in this one. Packers -7
Cleveland Browns at New York Giants
- Browns-Giants Date: Sunday, October 7
- Browns-Giants Kickoff Time: 1 PM
- Browns-Giants TV Network: CBS
- Browns-Giants Point Spread: Giants -9
- Browns-Giants Over-Under Odds: 44
- Browns-Giants Pick: The Browns are one of the 0-4 teams remaining in the league, along with the disappointing 0-4 Saints. Cleveland has kept its games close throughout the year, but they are unable to finish off teams when it matters. The Giants come in at 2-2 after a loss to the Eagles on Sunday night, but they will have no trouble with the Browns. Giants -9
Miami Dolphins at Cincinnati Bengals
- Dolphins-Bengals Date: Sunday, October 7
- Dolphins-Bengals Kickoff Time: 1 PM
- Dolphins-Bengals TV Network: CBS
- Dolphins-Bengals Point Spread: Bengals -4
- Dolphins-Bengals Over-Under Odds: 45
- Dolphins-Bengals Pick: The Dolphins dropped their second overtime game in a row, with last week’s coming to the Cardinals. The Bengals won their third game in a row, which pushed them to 3-1. The Dolphins have been looking better with Ryan Tannehill at quarterback, but the Bengals will take this one. Bengals -4
Baltimore Ravens at Kansas City Chiefs
- Ravens-Chiefs Date: Sunday, October 7
- Ravens-Chiefs Kickoff Time: 1 PM
- Ravens-Chiefs TV Network: CBS
- Ravens-Chiefs Point Spread: Ravens -6
- Ravens-Chiefs Over-Under Odds: 47
- Ravens-Chiefs Pick: The Chiefs have been extremely disappointing this year, with their only win coming against the winless Saints. Baltimore won last Thursday night against Cleveland, and the Ravens come into this game well rested. The spread is small enough for them to easily cover, even on the road, especially against a weak team in Kansas City. Ravens -6
Tennessee Titans at Minnesota Vikings
- Titans-Vikings Date: Sunday, October 7
- Titans-Vikings Kickoff Time: 4:25 PM
- Titans-Vikings TV Network: CBS
- Titans-Vikings Point Spread: Vikings -6
- Titans-Vikings Over-Under Odds: 44
- Titans-Vikings Pick: The Titans are 1-3 this season, with all three losses being by at least 21 points. The Vikings are easily the biggest surprise thus far, possibly just behind the Cardinals. They are 3-1 and could easily be 4-0. With wins over the the 49ers and Lions the past two weeks, the Vikings are at the top of the NFC North and will remain there after this game. Vikings -6

Christian Ponder and the Vikings will continue their surprisingly strong play with yet another victory in Week 5.
Seattle Seahawks at Carolina Panthers
- Seahawks-Panthers Date: Sunday, October 7
- Seahawks-Panthers Kickoff Time: 4:05 PM
- Seahawks-Panthers TV Network: FOX
- Seahawks-Panthers Point Spread: Panthers -3
- Seahawks-Panthers Over-Under Odds: 43.5
- Seahawks-Panthers Pick: The Panthers come into this game as the favorite even though they are only 1-3, compared to the 2-2 Seahawks. Seattle did lose to the Rams last week, while the Panthers lost to the Falcons in the last minute of the game. The Panthers have talent, but they are failing to close out games just like last year. The Seahawks will bounce back after last week’s loss and win this game. Seahawks +3
Chicago Bears at Jacksonville Jaguars
- Bears-Jaguars Date: Sunday, October 7
- Bears-Jaguars Kickoff Time: 4:05 PM
- Bears-Jaguars TV Network: FOX
- Bears-Jaguars Point Spread: Bears -6
- Bears-Jaguars Over-Under Odds: 40.5
- Bears-Jaguars Pick: The Jaguars have been playing better this season, but they are still nowhere near the level of being a playoff contender. The Bears are 3-1 and are coming off of a big win over Dallas on Monday night. Jay Cutler has Matt Forte and Michael Bush to help him on offense, so this game will be no problem for them. Bears -6
Denver Broncos at New England Patriots
- Broncos-Patriots Date: Sunday, October 7
- Broncos-Patriots Kickoff Time: 4:25 PM
- Broncos-Patriots TV Network: CBS
- Broncos-Patriots Point Spread: Patriots -7
- Broncos-Patriots Over-Under Odds: 51.5
- Broncos-Patriots Pick: Both teams are coming into this game at 2-2, which is very surprising. The Broncos had a big 36-7 win over the Raiders last week, while New England put up 52 points on Buffalo. The Patriots are the favorite in this game, but the Broncos seem to be back on the right track. Broncos +7
Buffalo Bills at San Francisco 49ers
- Bills-49ers Date: Sunday, October 7
- Bills-49ers Kickoff Time: 4:25 PM
- Bills-49ers TV Network: CBS
- Bills-49ers Point Spread: 49ers -10
- Bills-49ers Over-Under Odds: 44.5
- Bills-49ers Pick: The Bills are 2-2 on the season, with both losses coming by double-digits. While the 49ers are easily one of the top teams in the NFC and the league, this spread is large enough for the Bills to record a cover. The 49ers should win the game, but it will not be by ten. Bills +10
San Diego Chargers at New Orleans Saints
- Chargers-Saints Date: Sunday, October 7
- Chargers-Saints Kickoff Time: 8:20 PM
- Chargers-Saints TV Network: NBC
- Chargers-Saints Point Spread: Saints -4
- Chargers-Saints Over-Under Odds: 54
- Chargers-Saints Pick: The Saints are the surprising favorite in this game. They are 0-4 on the year, but they find themselves to be favorites against the 3-1 Chargers. Their only loss on the year is to the 4-0 Falcons, which shows how well the Chargers have played on the year. There is no reason why the Saints should be the favorites in this game, and this will be shown when they lose to San Diego. Chargers +4
Houston Texans at New York Jets
- Texans-Jets Date: Monday, October 8
- Texans-Jets Kickoff Time: 8:30 PM
- Texans-Jets TV Network: ESPN
- Texans-Jets Point Spread: Texans -9
- Texans-Jets Over-Under Odds: 41
- Texans-Jets Pick: The Jets lost in embarrassing fashion to the 49ers last week in a 34-0 game. Cries for Tim Tebow were heard, but he will not be starting any time soon. The Texans are the third 4-0 team in the league, and they will easily improve to 5-0 with a big win over the Jets. Texans -9
Last Week: 8-7
Yearly Record: 28-32-3
