I don’t play baseball video games anymore, mainly because I have a Wii and all the baseball video games I’ve played for the Wii have massively sucked. However, I used to play them a lot, and it was always my goal to pitch a perfect game at some point.
It never happened. In fact, I never even threw a no-hitter.
Granted, these are difficult tasks, and there is luck involved, but I still always figured I would at some point. Certainly any time I got close, it was extremely exciting and nerve-wracking.
All this to say, I can definitely sympathize with Redditor Rocketbird, who recently had this happen to him:
Yep, needing just one more out to complete a PERFECT GAME, his pitcher sustained a broken forearm. Not only was he forced to leave the game, he was put on the 60-Day DL.
Sure, he still completed the perfect game with help from reliever Taylor Tankersley, but it’s just not the same, as this section of the comment thread breaks down.
I just want to say that, bro, I feel your pain. There is no telling what I would have done if this had happened to me, so close to such an epic goal; but throwing the controller threw a window would not have been out of the question.

What’s the worst thing that has ever happened to you while playing a video game?

One of the Madden games (maybe more?) would include career ending injuries. I remember that was a bit of a downer when it was introduced.
Hey I just want to jump in and ask if you’ve tried either of the MLB Power Pros games for the Wii? I own the 2008 version, and good lord, it is ridiculous. It’s more arcadey than the Show or MLB 2k, but the stats this game keeps is absurd. It’s a strong blend of real-life and goofiness, and I’d suggest it if you’re really looking for something on the Wii. Especially because you can get them relatively cheap at this point.
