Two MSF writers, myself and Luke Stanczyk, run a White Sox fan blog, “Grab Some Bench!” It’s our first year with the site, and let me tell you we’ve absolutely loved every day of it.
Recently, I got an opportunity to interview White Sox 2012 1st round draft pick Courtney Hawkins. After the interview was over (and about a week of technical difficulties passed)I finally got the interview posted on the site!
I tried to stray away from the questions you commonly hear asked to draft picks and in turn focus on the smaller things; the things that would help the White Sox fans really figure out what type of kid was just added to the south side family.
Anyway, White Sox fan or not, it’s amazing to hear such a humbled, well-spoken 18 year-old who, despite getting put on SportsCenter’s Top 10, the all-USA squad, and the mound of U.S. Cellular Field to throw out a ceremonial first pitch, really has kept his cool and stayed close to his core values.
