What’s going on in this picture of Usain Bolt hanging out with kids in the Czech Republic?

NBC’s Olympics website posted a gallery of photos of record book-rewriting Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt hanging out with children last week in Ostrava, Czech Republic during Ostrava’s annual Golden Spike track-and-field competition.

I can’t figure out what’s going on in this one:

I would say that Bolt was just setting down the little girl in the pink hat after picking her up for a photo op and just happened to have a funny look on his face when the photographer snapped the picture. But the looks of embarrassment, disgust, and resignation on the faces of the children on the right side of the photo make me wonder if something else is going on.

Whenever I’ve made that face while holding a child at arm’s length, clean-up has been necessary.
