Video: Eddie Vedder and Chris Chelios Sing “The Weight” in Chicago Bar While Kerry Wood Offers Support

Last week Kerry Wood announced that he would be retiring mid-season, but it doesn’t seem like Wood has truly left Chicago for good.

Sunday night Kerry Wood was seen with Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder and former Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wing defenseman Chris Chelios at Stanley’s Kitchen and Tap in Chicago where Vedder and Chelios sung karaoke while Wood stood in the background and gave support.

I looked up the directions on Google Maps and found out I live only 51 minutes from the bar. I could have easily made the trip in 30 minutes if I got the memo that the lead singer of my favorite band and a legendary Chicago defenseman I grew up watching were walking the streets of Chicago.

I can’t put into words how awesome this is, though I wish someone would have told me about this. With no Pearl Jam or Eddie Vedder tour date anywhere near me this year, I would’ve gladly taken this as a substitute.
