Infographic: The History of Memorial Day

Today is one of the more meaningful national holidays on the calendar, as we take 24 hours to honor the memories and sacrifices of the best and bravest men and women our great nation has ever produced.

We do so by spending time with friends and loved ones, having fun, and taking a one day respite from work. And we should do it all heartily and with great enjoyment, as it is the very freedom to do so that the men and women we are honoring died defending.

But we should also take more than a few moments to consider, honor, and thank these soldiers for whom this day was set aside. They made the ultimate sacrifice protecting freedom, and every American is forever indebted to them.

Below is an infographic tweeted out a few minutes ago by Michael Hyatt that runs through a few facts about the history of Memorial Day.

It is important to note that 3:00 pm is set aside as the official time to pause all activities and honor the deceased soldiers.

I hope everyone is enjoying a happy and safe Memorial Day. Make sure if you see a soldier or a veteran to thank them for their service. We cannot ever thank them enough.
