Ron Artest is a thug. Plain and simple.
He can call himself “Metta World Peace,” but it doesn’t matter.
And David Stern should suspend him into the playoffs for the vicious elbow he threw at James Harden last night.
He can legally change his name to whatever he wants, but he is the same Ron Artest who played a major role in the most abominable sports fight known as the Malice in the Palace.
His latest transgression, an elbow to the head of Thunder guard James Harden during the second quarter of Sunday’s game, was absolutely unnecessary and ridiculous.
I understand players run into each other while running back down the court, but World Peace went out of his way to throw a vicious elbow to Harden.
David Stern should bring the hammer down because World Peace is a repeat offender and this could majorly impact the Thunder if Harden misses games due to concussion-like symptoms, which is a possibility.

The NBA has been cracking down on violent fouls and this is one of the most egregious fouls all season, except for the NHL-type hip check by Hornets forward Jason Smith on Clippers forward Blake Griffin.
For once, I will agree with the heavy hand of Stern.

I agree. In fact, since it was blatant rage and intentional, I’d say first two rounds. Maybe the entire playoffs.
And isn’t it typical that someone named “peace” would be violent. In fact, if you’ve ever seen a “peace” rally, there’s often hatred, anger and violence. It’s all psychological and we know Ron Artest sees a shrink.
Bad guy. Period.
Harden is 5% to blame, why did he go bump into Artest as he was celebrating? There was no reason for him to make contact with Artest, he intentionally got in the way. With that said Peace brought down the hammer
He should be suspended for the rest of this year, including the play offs. I could see elbowing someone if you were grabbing a rebound, but he didn’t even have a ball in his hands and didn’t even look back after he clearly made contact. You can kill somebody with an elbow strike like that. He’s in the wrong sport. He should join the UFC and be the total a__ he is. Metta World Peace. What a joke!
