Call to the Bullpen Podcast: A-Rod Now Tied for 5th in Career Home Runs, Why Don’t We Care?

Earlier this week, Alex Rodriguez tied his former teammate Ken Griffey Jr. for 5th on baseball’s all-time home run list. But why doesn’t this get us going anymore? Have all the PED issues and recent broken records made us complacent?

Corey and I talk at length about A-Rod, Jim Thome, and records in general.

We are also joined by Tim Livingston of Sonoma Sun FM’s “Los Livingston Brothers” ( to talk all things Giants. Tim Lincecum’s horrid start to 2012, Matt Cain’s extension, Brandon Belt’s issues, and if the offense can compete with the Diamondbacks. The former voice of the Dunedin Blue Jays and I also digress into talk of Eric Thames and Travis Snider.

That’s the meat and potatoes but Corey and I included lots of gravy, including:

  • Our 3 Up, 3 Down for the week
  • Ian Kinsler, Carlos Santana and Brandon Phillips signing extentions
  • What the Red Sox will do without Jacoby Ellsbury
  • The Cinncinati Reds spending money
  • Why you don’t walk Sean Rodriguez to pitch to Carlos Pena
  • Jonathon Broxton with one of the ugliest meltdowns we’ve seen
  • And of course, what games we’ll be watching this week.
