Matt Forte’s Childish, Pouty Attitude Is Unwarranted

The Chicago Bears made another great offseason move yesterday by signing former Oakland Raiders running back Michael Bush.

Most of the reactions I read and saw from fans were positive, though I do have my reservations given the Bears’ recent past of paying a little too much for backup running backs.

But the bigger story is how franchise back Matt Forte reacted to the signing.

No Reason For Matt Forte To Feel Disrespected

From a series of tweets, Forte didn’t seem too happy about the whole situation.

I have three words for Forte: Please shut up.

Harsh? Maybe, but I see this as just pouting on Forte’s part. The Bears have already put the franchise tag on Forte, meaning Forte will be paid $7.742 million dollars next season unless the teams can come to a long-term agreement by July 16th of this year.

Would Forte get more if there was a deal made? Most likely, but $7.742 million is pretty damn good compared to the $3.781 million he got in total over the fours years he’s been with the Bears.

Forte seems to think that the Bears are under-appreciating or disrespecting him, with the Bush signing just another example, but the Bears aren’t under-appreciating Forte. The management knows, and the fans certainly know, how important Forte is to this team.

Hell, Forte is arguably the best player the Bears have. You’re telling me that management doesn’t know this? Putting a franchise tag on a player allows teams to keep valuable players while they try to work out a deal…all while paying that player a salary inline with the best at their position. Please tell me how that action is disrespectful or a sign of under-appreciation.

The Bears are taking their time to re-sign Forte, but it’s not personal; it’s merely business.  The Bears don’t want to overpay Forte, and you can’t blame them for that. Bush is a backup plan in case Forte decides to hold out.

I don’t have anything against Matt Forte. I am totally appreciative of what he has done and how he has made my favorite NFL team a lot better; but this kind of childish, pouty attitude is something that the Bears don’t need and that is not warranted, especially when signs are pointing to the Bears possibly being a big threat in the NFL.

It’s behavior like this that divides teams, and God forbid something stupid like this ruins a potentially awesome season.

  1. Nathan Topaz says:

I completely agree if it is money he is worried about someone should teach him math. He is guarantied 7.7 million for one year and Bush is guarantied 7 million over 4 years… how is that disrespectful. come on I know making the most you can is important but you are playing for the Bears, They are not know for paying the highest in the league. There a lot more position on the team that need attention this promises him this season to be taken care of and allow the organisation to spread out the cap and wait to make more room next year for his long term deal… All good things come in time to those who wait…. Thank you Forte for all you do and can’t wait to see you do your magic another season

I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I had to tell someone!

This become a capture but the referee went beneath the hood and made the incorrect name. whilst requested with the aid of the Carolina Head teach Ron Rivera why he had made this sort of horrific call, the head reputable didn’t supply a good explanation.
