March Madness Live For Free: How To Watch NCAA Tournament Games Online For Free Via CokeZero Promotion

Yesterday I told you the myriad ways you can track the NCAA Tournament if you are unable to be in front of your TV, especially today and tomorrow at work. The only downside was that, without cable provider authentication, any game not being shown on CBS required you to sign up for a $3.99 account.

Not anymore. Here is how you can get access to March Madness Live for free, thanks to the folks at CokeZero.

march-madness-2012-ncaa-tournament-live-watch-games-online-iPhone-iPad-androidFirst off, a hat tip to Rob Dauster. You know him from Ballin’ Is A Habit, NBC Sports’ College Basketball Talk, and of course he is a regular guest on Andy Bottoms’ college hoops podcast here at MSF. (Listen to their latest episode here, which previews the NCAA Tournament.)

Before you do anything else, follow Rob on Twitter. He is perhaps the only person in America more excited about March Madness than I am, and he knows something about every team, so he’ll enrich your March experience.

And when you follow him, tip your cap to him for tweeting this out earlier today:

For free March Madness Live, text “0COLORADO” to 2653. It’s a Coke Zero promo. They’ll give you a promo code to use at ncaa . com / cokezero

I just did this, and it works. And it took all of about 47 seconds. Now I have free access to March Madness Live on any device, any time, and without needing to do any pesky authentication. Hell yes.

Update: Do this at your own risk. Most people have had no trouble, but a few commenters have mentioned that they did not receive code – maybe CokeZero is out of them? – are now getting multiple text messages. I do NOT have this happen, nor have most people. But just wanted to pass along what I’m hearing.

Once you’ve sent your text, click this link to Andy’s Thursday Viewer’s Guide. There are many tough viewing choices to be made during the tournament’s opening weekend. Let a grizzled veteran and hoops expert help you out.

And finally, for no good reason at all, here is a picture of Bill Self and his magic green party shirt. I feel like just by posting it I’ve ensured good luck for us all.

Happy March Madnessing!

Bill Self is so excited you have free access to March Madness Live he busted out his favorite shirt to commemorate the occasion.

  1. Is this for real….and does that text message cost anything?

    • It worked for me. I’d assuming the “standard text messaging rates apply” caveat is necessary. I don’t really know if it costs anything. But I did it!

  2. Doesn’t work for me. I got a message back saying “Message failed. Shortcode may have expired.” Did you send the text today (3/15)?

  3. Worked for me, thank you for this info because I was just about to pay the 3.99 before you sent out this link on twitter.

  4. 0michiganstate doesn’t work, but 0kansas does

  6. I’m curious how it authenticates for laptop users. Will I lose access if I clear my cookies?

    •  Good question. I don’t know. I haven’t tried the authentication. When I got my code and signed up, all I had to do was enter account info and I was good to go for March Madness Live.

  7. They were all out of free codes but thanks to you I am now signed up for something that costs money.  It told me to reply STOP so I did and now it’s saying reply STOP1 for such and such, STOP2 for such and such, STOP3 for such and such and STOP4.  So tell me Jerod…are you going to pay my charges or is Coke going to?

    • That’s unfortunate. You’re the first person I’ve heard who has had an issue. I just saw this on Twitter on passed along…MSF has no affiliation with CokeZero. Has it stopped?

  8. Bestbigbluefanever says:

Same thing here, all I am getting is a bunch of text messages about nonsense now. This whole thing is a hoax.

    • It’s not a hoax. It worked for me and has worked for most folks. I made sure to try it and have it confirmed elsewhere before passing along. I appreciate you letting me know about your experience though. I updated the post so people know there has been a mixed reaction. Could just be that they ran out of codes and have a glitch?

  9. Not working for Colorado, Kansas, Belmont or Virginia for me…Anyone else have a school that just worked?

  10. 0Missouri worked for me about 30 minutes ago. As of about 10 minutes ago it wasn’t working for friends. Rough

  11. Justinolan says:

I didnt get my text yet and it already been a few mintutes

  12. Tried several schools, only got a message each time saying it wasn’t a valid code and ask for help from coke zero rewards.

  13. All you have to do to stop the texts is reply STOP

  14. Texted using 14 different schools so far. I got nada… Just the following message just now.  ” Coke Zero: Sorry there are no more free NCAA March Madness Live offers left – went like hotcakes! ”  DANG IT!! Now what shall I do! Im missing the Louisville v Davidson game and I predicted an upset… sighhhh

  15. I just got a text back from Coke Zero saying they’re out of promo codes. The text said, “they went like hotcakes”

  16. Samir Housri says:
