Yesterday I told you the myriad ways you can track the NCAA Tournament if you are unable to be in front of your TV, especially today and tomorrow at work. The only downside was that, without cable provider authentication, any game not being shown on CBS required you to sign up for a $3.99 account.
Not anymore. Here is how you can get access to March Madness Live for free, thanks to the folks at CokeZero.
First off, a hat tip to Rob Dauster. You know him from Ballin’ Is A Habit, NBC Sports’ College Basketball Talk, and of course he is a regular guest on Andy Bottoms’ college hoops podcast here at MSF. (Listen to their latest episode here, which previews the NCAA Tournament.)
Before you do anything else, follow Rob on Twitter. He is perhaps the only person in America more excited about March Madness than I am, and he knows something about every team, so he’ll enrich your March experience.
And when you follow him, tip your cap to him for tweeting this out earlier today:
For free March Madness Live, text “0COLORADO” to 2653. It’s a Coke Zero promo. They’ll give you a promo code to use at ncaa . com / cokezero
I just did this, and it works. And it took all of about 47 seconds. Now I have free access to March Madness Live on any device, any time, and without needing to do any pesky authentication. Hell yes.
Update: Do this at your own risk. Most people have had no trouble, but a few commenters have mentioned that they did not receive code – maybe CokeZero is out of them? – are now getting multiple text messages. I do NOT have this happen, nor have most people. But just wanted to pass along what I’m hearing.
Once you’ve sent your text, click this link to Andy’s Thursday Viewer’s Guide. There are many tough viewing choices to be made during the tournament’s opening weekend. Let a grizzled veteran and hoops expert help you out.
And finally, for no good reason at all, here is a picture of Bill Self and his magic green party shirt. I feel like just by posting it I’ve ensured good luck for us all.
Happy March Madnessing!
