Former Ohio State bench warmer and blogger Mark Titus’ new book Don’t Put Me In, Coach will finally be available on bookshelves and at Amazon.com on March 6.
Although Mark was never a star on the court at Ohio State, he did develop a cult following on his blog, ClubTrillion.com. On the site, Mark wrote many hilarious articles about his time at Ohio State and also about other topics like pro wrestling, mustaches, and Greg Oden’s penis.
Mark named his blog “Club Trillion” from the basketball term “a trillion,” where a player only plays for one minute and gets zeros in the other 12 statistical categories on a box score. Mark wasn’t very good and didn’t get much playing time so he tallied up plenty of trillions during his career.
Club Trillion became very successful — it has 3.9 million views to date — and it eventually landed Mark a writing job at Bill Simmons’s website Grantland, where you can read an excerpt of his book.
Don’t Put Me In, Coach is mostly about Mark’s career at Ohio State from 2007 to 2010. Mark was lucky enough to be on the team during one of the greatest stretches of Ohio State basketball. He even has the most individual career wins in Ohio State’s basketball history, although he had very little input on those victories.
But don’t get the impression that Mark was a terrible basketball player. In a video he made called “Mr. Rainmaker,” Mark shows off some of his silky smooth jump shot and some of his humor.
I present to you…Mr. Rainmaker.
Although I have not read the book yet, I expect it to be hilarious and a very insightful look into the Ohio State basketball program. This book probably isn’t for everyone. The casual basketball fan may not enjoy its crude humor or might not have any idea who Mark Titus is. But fans of Mark and die-hard college basketball fans should enjoy its humor and every
Greg Oden penis joke.
Also, I recommend this book to Midwesterners as Mark was born in Indiana. He is also a huge fan of Bobby Knight and loves auto racing, especially the Indy 500.
So don’t be a jealous doucher. Buy Mark Titus’ new book, Don’t Put Me In, Coach.
On Club Trillion, Mark always used to leave a video after each post, so as a tribute I am going do the same. Here is Mark on The Big Ten Network’s show The Journey.
