Patriots Cut Tiquan Underwood, Sign Alex Silvestro Night Before Super Bowl

There are many people who strongly dislike the Patriots, and some news that came out late tonight does not help their cause.

The Patriots decided it was necessary to cut receiver Tiquan Underwood and promote defensive lineman Alex Silvestro from the practice squad.

Tiquan Underwood Cut By Patriots

The Patriots cut a player the night before the Super Bowl!

Given, Underwood only had three catches on the season, but the move is still mind-boggling. Underwood has been preparing for the biggest game of his career, only to be told that he is no longer part of the team.

Instead of displaying anger, as I would have, Underwood took the high road on Twitter. He sent out a tweet that read,”Good Luck To The New Enland Organization, The Coaches, & All My Teammates… #PatsNation“. It would have been clever if he would have put #GiantsNation, but he is clearly a better man than I.

The only person who is happy about this decision is Silvestro. He will likely see some time on special teams in the Super Bowl, which is a major upgrade from the practice squad.

Underwood will most likely find a way to watch the game, and he may even be invited to join some group attending the game. He will say that he is rooting for the Patriots, evident by his hair-cut that features the Pats’ logo, but would any of us blame him if he is secretly rooting for a New York victory?
