In the aftermath of the already infamous Cincinnati/Xavier brawl, along with the post-game press conference where an XU player proudly exclaimed his locker room being filled with gangsters (he meant ‘tough guys’), MSF presents the ten top fights/brawls/confrontations in college basketball history.

David Stern and Chris Paul in Misery

The lengths to which David Stern has gone to keep Chris Paul in New Orleans inspired this David Stern/Chris Paul/Kathy Bates/James Caan mash-up (which I created in lieu of writing my weekly “Things We Learned This Weekend” column).

Watch it now. If there’s any truth to this report, it could be moot by later this week.

Undefeated Green Bay Packers Face Tough Decisions

Email Post Email Post
Good thing Jennings wasn't too hurt on Sunday.

This weekend I attended my very first professional football game.

I’ve been a fan my whole life, but as any fan of the Green Bay Packers knows, tickets are hard to come by. I came into the tickets through a friend’s uncle, which is the standard connection for getting tickets, I presume.

Whenever I told people last week that I was going to the game, the reaction was almost universally “That’s awesome! Where’d you get the tickets?” Sure you can buy them online, often for the small sum of an arm and a leg, but how fans go about acquiring their tickets is often a story in and of itself.

What if T.J. Yates and John Skelton were Tim Tebow?

We have been rather effusive in our praise of Tim Tebow on this site over the past month and a half, a fact of which I’m proud – mostly because I think we’ve kept Tebowmania in something resembling proper perspective. For every “TEBOW WON!” article, there has also been an article focusing on the personal attributes that make him so compelling or a generally down-the-center piece focusing on the Tebow phenomenon itself.

In this article, I don’t even really want to talk too much about Tebow (even though I will…that’s just how it goes). Rather, I want to offer up a few plaudits to quarterbacks whose important contributions to the NFL landscape are getting predictably lost in the Tebow Maelstrom.

T.John Skates…this post is for you.

The St. Louis Rams (2-10) will travel to Seattle to take on division rival, the Seahawks (5-7) in Week 14′s edition of Monday Night Football.

I’m sure I’m not the only person who is still scratching their head and trying to figure out why this is a primetime game. Both teams are struggling with the game and fighting injuries leaving fans less than thrilled.

What do I think you should watch for in this game? Check it out.

The Ever-Enjoyable Tim Tebow

Email Post Email Post
tim-tebow-denver-fantasy-football-week-15-start-em-sit-em-projections

I love to argue.

I love to argue so much that when I was in college I joined the school debate team.

I loved that so much that when I was a junior I changed my minor to speech.

I loved that so much that when I graduated I became an English and Speech teacher – so I could teach kids how to reason and think every single day.

Debate is OFTEN one of the most fun parts of sports. If you watch a game, follow a given team, or cheer for a certain player, you can develop opinions. But after a while, your convictions on said game/team/player grow, and you become entrenched in your opinion. If anyone disagrees with you, you almost feel that you are being personally attacked.

I have spent hours arguing over Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. I have spent days arguing over the NBA and college basketball. I have probably wasted weeks of my life arguing over Peyton Manning and Tom Brady.

That last one hurts me the most.

Why? Because I may never get to appreciate Peyton Manning on my team again.

Fantasy Football Week 15 Waiver Wire Pickups and Advice

I don’t know about you, but I thoroughly enjoyed Week 14.

No, I didn’t make the playoffs in all of my leagues, but I did get to enjoy a couple of Week 14 byes, and my teams that did play meaningful Week 14 games all did well.

Sure, it all could come crashing down this week, but I’m going to spend a few extra minutes studying stats and trends and matchups to ensure that I put myself in the best possible position for victory.

And it all starts with analyzing the waiver wire to see if there are any players out there who may be able to help me out now that the fantasy pressure is racheted up to its highest levels.

This could be the first step in the Americanization of the game. Probably, few people would be willing to call it that, but some purists feel the pull. It’s like a riptide over the Atlantic Ocean.

And, yet, other purists say they’re ready for it.
