It’s just about that time my NBA crowd. Well, actually it’s well past ‘that’ time due to the foolishness experienced during this past off-season.

All of that is well behind us now, and since the lockout ended there have been numerous signings, trades, and a mess of pre-season games already played. All this can only mean that the NBA season is right around the corner, and it’s time to finally rank each team appropriately from top to bottom.

Ohio State Receives Fair Punishment By NCAA

Email Post Email Post
Jim-Tressel-Terrelle-Pryor

On Tuesday, the NCAA rendered their decision on the Ohio State football program almost a year after their investigation began about the rule violations that had occurred under former head coach Jim Tressel.

The NCAA decided to cite Ohio State “for failure to monitor, preferential treatment and extra benefit violations,” which got them a postseason ban for one year. Not only will they not be allowed to participate in postseason play next season (including Big Ten championship game) but the NCAA also slapped them some additional penalties as well. Ohio State was placed on three years’ probation and a must give up nine scholarships in that amount of time.

People surrounding the Ohio State football program were stunned that they got such a harsh penalty, but with their history of breaking the rules they received the proper punishment. [Read more...]

james-harrison

Injuries happen in all sports – especially football.

It would be awesome if we could develop a way to completely solve the problem, but we never will.  Football is a violent sport, and when you have guys as big and as fast as NFL athletes, injuries will invariably follow.

However, every year, injuries DO occur that could be avoided – especially when guys like James Harrison are involved.

Email Post Email Post
indiana-kentucky-victor-oladipo

Maybe it was the sheer volume of annoying “Road Test Saturday” promos I saw a couple weekends ago, but I started to wonder why the notion existed that playing non-conference road games was worthy of such special billing.  After doing some research this weekend, I no longer need to wonder.

What I found is a staggering lack of road games for college basketball teams from major conferences.
