Who would have thought that Week 13 was going to be so flippin’ intense, entertaining, surprising or WHATEVER you want to call it?!

  1. Kansas City took down the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field with an unbelievably high scoring game of 10-3.
  2. The Colts scored 24 points against the Patriots!! Of course, they still lost.
  3. The Dallas Cowboys lost in overtime to the Arizona Cardinals because of a “field goal/timeout/missed field goal” mishap.
  4. The Giants played their hearts out against the undefeated Green Bay Packers. Who would have thought that game was going to be such a nail biter? Certainly not me or I wouldn’t have made such a foolish bet.

Anyways…Let’s take a look at your Monday Night entertainment!

Brett Favre-To-The-Bears Rumors Fly Once More

Email Post Email Post
brett-favre-bears

It was inevitable, really.

I posted about this several weeks back when Jay Cutler first got hurt, mainly as an excuse to use the picture at the bottom of this post. But now, apparently, there is at least one-way interest in a potential Brett Favre comeback.

And by that I mean that Brett Favre, apparently, would “listen” if the Bears came groveling on their knees for him to rescue them from Caleb Hanie. Of course, Bears coach Lovie Smith has already said that the team is not looking to the outside and will stick Hanie.

But who cares!? It’s Brett Favre! Rumors! Let’s all have some fun out here!

NFL Suck For Luck Power Rankings Week 14: Rams Suck Edition

Email Post Email Post
suck-for-luck-power-rankings-week-14

Andrew Luck didn’t play this past weekend, as his Stanford Cardinal did not make the Pac-12 championship game. Oregon did. And so did UCLA, which really made the game less “championship game” and more “meaningless exhibition between a good team and a crappy team whose coach has already been fired.”

Anyway, there isn’t much to say about Luck for this week in looking back; but we can look forward.

Fantasy Football Week 14 Waiver Wire Pickups and Advice

Email Post Email Post
marion-barber-fantasy-football-waiver-wire-pickups-week-14

Unless your league is crazy and plays in Week 17 (which, make no mistake, is crazy), this week is either the final one of the regular season or the first week of the playoffs.  Consequently, it’s not a time to get too cute by picking up obscure free agents and plugging them into your lineup.

Quite frankly, I’m not sure any of these guys are plug and play options, but if you’re in a pinch and looking at the waiver wire for potential help this week or depth down the stretch, here are a few guys you might be considering.

Video: Aldon Smith of the 49ers delivers the best big play ‘celebration’ from NFL Week 13

I usually watch every minute of every 49ers game, but I had to miss yesterday’s because of Indiana’s home game against Stetson and my ensuing Assembly Call duty.

Immediately after the show ended, I called my dad to get a recap of the game and my mom jumped on the phone to tell me about something hilarious that 49ers rookie Aldon Smith did.

As you surely know by now, since I say it every week, I always go to r/NFL on Sunday night to find funny/interesting NFL notes, GIFs, images, videos, etc.

Here is my favorite from this week, when Broncos wide receiver Matt Willis was photographed standing next to running back Willis McGahee.

The 5 Best Tight Ends In The NFL Today

The tight end position is often a forgotten position; at least, it used to be.

Tight ends have been undervalued at times, but now seem to be making a comeback in today’s NFL.

Some teams are getting back to using them as a weapon to match up against undersized corners or slower linebackers. Either way, if you have a tight end that is a viable pass catcher, you can put up some points.

Here are the best tight ends, in my opinion, today in the NFL.

More BCS BS: Michigan State, get ready to be disrespected again…

bilde

As a rule, I normally stay away from the BCS bitching.

I, like most – would like to see some sort of playoff system in place. Taking the current four BCS games and making them National Championship quarterfinals (in the end adding two games to the season) to me seems like a logical solution.

To the naked eye, Alabama does appear to be the second-best team in college football, but thanks to one distracted night in Ames, IA a few weeks back, Oklahoma State will never have a chance to prove the case that they were more deserving of the #2 seat.

But college football is spectacular as it is: only 14 precious Saturdays with an entire menu of games available on television (no Sunday Ticket package needed) and mind-boggling finishes the norm on a weekly basis. Sadly, it is all over except the 35 bowl games, then nearly eight long months before the madness returns.

But there is one injustice in the BCS (besides continuing to give the Big East an automatic bid) that indeed will happen and must be pointed out.

Why are the Michigan Wolverines likely headed for the Sugar Bowl while the Michigan State Spartans are headed for the Outback (literally)?

Why Oklahoma State, not Alabama, Should Play in the BCS Title Game

In these finals hours before all the ballots are cast for the polls that will determine which team finishes second in the final BCS standings and gets the opportunity to face LSU in January 9′s National Championship Game, I figured I’d make a last-minute case for Oklahoma State, whom I feel deserves that #2 spot.

Detroit Lions at New Orleans Saints Preview and Prediction

Tonight’s game features a matchup of two teams, the Saints and Lions, vying for playoff spots in the NFC – but it was originally scheduled to feature the Patriots and the lowly Colts. That would have been ugly, as the last time the Colts were on Sunday Night Football the Saints beat them 62-7.

So let’s all be happy that NBC decided to use its flex option.
